It's funny though. Looking at those pictures from Austrailia, they could easily have been taken in Wisconsin. In the summer of course.

Damn you guys have nice wagons.
You know you are right. Except I see those cars on the wrong side of the road....

Re: Commodore Country

Lets face it America only went left hand drive to be different from England didnt they. I see no particular reason or advantage over either. I imagined that histroically horse wagons were driven from the right hand side as you held the reins with the left and the whip with your right (most people being (or forced to be ) righthanded so that just carried over to cars.

The US was almost the other way. A few manufacturers (notably Ford) pushed for the LHD.

Too bad GM is not bringing the Holden Commodore sport wagon here as the Pontiac G8 wagon. They said there is no market for it.

Hehe, thanks. I totally missed this bump. Must have been working too hard. Only another 10 days before I'm annoying the bejeezus out of everyone. Working from home! Yay!

But that's not the best bit. My new (potential) customer is in Adelaide. Can't wait for that first face to face.....with the Holden Plant

As for the vehicle, I would have preferred the 5 speed in the calais (or 6M), but the extra 8k might be the stopper.

Yeah cool.
Don't think I could find the country pack suspension in the other models. (but didnt undertake an exhaustive search).

thats one thing that annoys me, the way some combinations are not available. example - you can only get lpg on Omega, lumina, berlina sedans not wagons. Cant get LPG and Country pack, cant get country pack and lsd (is it included? at $330 I wouldnt think so). Can get a v8 Berlina sedan, but not wagon.

I think I'd be happy enough with a Berlina with the base engine (surely 180kw is enough?) but would like the 5speed auto with it. Thinking next car (not due for ages) could be a Berlina sedan or a Omega/Lumina wagon. Thinking the wagon with country pack suspension and LSD would easily replace the Captiva for my usage style, thought LPG my be an idea as the next car I may keep when it rolls over, as the Astra would be 6 years old by that time. Who knows though? may be a diesel by then. Anyway, if I'm thinking of a 'keeper' I'm looking for build quality - in the long life meaning - and at least some nod to economy.

It's amazing how many options you guys have available on each model.

Re: Commodore Country

I found the absence of LSD with country pack odd too. In fact you can't get LSD with the Omega 6M uste either. Weird. My VZ has it. What's the problem?

Yet still we aren't satisfied.

Yep, to me the LSD and Country pack is a perfect combo. Especially on a Ute! A HQ Ute set up in that manner negated the need for a 4wd in many many situations.

I think it would've done better if:
1. The roof didn't slope
2. It had third row seats built in like the old wagons it was inspired by
3. It had the better looking front end of the Charger

Re: Commodore Country

How does the identical Chrysler 300 Touring sell in Europe?

1. I don't see anything wrong with the roof.
2. I sort of agree with you.
3. I find it better looking than the Charger.
