    Chevy Tornado

I saw one from Mexico driving on the freeway yesterday, what car is it based on?

It looked to have a pretty decent sized bed, and could make a good smaller companion to the Ute if that ever goes on sale on our shores.

And don't let the fact that it's based on an economy car fool anyone. These baby utes are tough little suckers. They're very popular in my childhood home of South Africa, and believe it or not, carry a good half-ton payload (most are rated for 600kg). Yes, they can haul as much as a standard Silverado!

Most are bought for leisure use, and nobody would dare tow anything remotely heavy with one, but you see lots of them for commercial duty. They're great little economy haulers.

I believe if GM sold it here, they'd mop up the "parts runner" market. I'm trying to picture it with "NAPA" logos and sealed-beam headlights...

My god that's an ugly pickup.

BTW it would also need a NAPA hat on top of the cab

Just curious... Are Mexican cars even legal in California? Do they have to meet the smog and safety regulations?

    MY EYEEEESSSSS!

The Holden UTE is a much better looking vehicle, and I doubt (although I know nothing about the turdnado) that it can be had with a V8.

They're legal to drive around if you're visiting, I think you have to get them re-registered and smogged to make them legal to own if you're a resident. There might be more requirements that I'm not aware of too.
