    Chevy Dealer Sucks!

During my lunch break, I decided to go to a Chevy dealer to check out the Suburban. When I got there, I didn't see a single customer around. So, I walked around. No one bothered to walk out and greet me. I was like what the hell. No wonder, GM is sucking right now. This dealer is located in Marrietta, GA near Dobbins Air Reserve Base. By the way, I'm planning to upgrade to a big suv.

Monday mornings aren't exactly the busiest of times. Although I know dealers need to be more on the ball, were you seen by anyone at all? Did you go see someone?

Funny, I would love to be able to go to a dealer and not have a salesman hassle me. I will find them when I am ready.

I bet you couldn't do that twice.

Do they REALLY think a 16 year-old is going to be able to buy a new car? I mean, come on... And then when they ask if you need any help and you say no, they follow you! That's about where I start to get rude, haha.

Most sales people are worthless for anything but filling out the paperwork.

When the Malibu was getting new brake discs, I was looking around the dealer and my eyes caught a sweet Corvette C6 Convertible in the showroom. I looked it over, peeked at the interior, read the window sticker, pretty much what I do with every car that I like.
Then a salesman strolls over and asks me if I needed help with the car.
    Seriously?
Yeah, you can help me by giving me $60k to buy the car.

On the flip side, when my mom dragged me to a toyota dealership to look at corollas, we didn't get any salesmen asking us if we needed help. So much for toyota's great customer service.

You can't win here.....some people like to be left alone to look. Some want a guy to be there for their every whim. Me I would rather look by myself first.

Regardless, someone should always acknowledge that you're there.

Funny you mention that. The exact same thing happened to me at a Honda and Chevy dealer last week. I walked around getting in and out of cars for about 15 minutes and NOT ONE PERSON ASKED ME IF I NEEDED HELP OR INFO! Last I checked Chevy needed to sell a few cars. Finally I walked up to the receptionist at the Chevy dealer and asked a question, which she answered....but didn't offer to refer me to a sales person. I can't say Chevy dealers suck (as the threat title says), but I can say WAKE UP WHEN A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER WANDERS IN!

Ever go into Macy's or Lord & Taylor and try to get help or even pay for something you found by yourself? You'd be lucky to find someone on the entire floor who will help you. And that's happened to me and people I know several times. But your auto salsesperson, particularly a GM one, is your typical fall-guy, the stereotype everyone likes to dump on in real life and in the movies! Probably satisfies some inner desire for their inferiority complex!

Totally agree, you can't please everyone, but just a simple "Good Afternoon" is always a safe bet.

I dont mind even more than that, maybe a "Can I help you" or "Let me know if you need anything".

But for pete's sake leave me alone if I tell you I don't need help. I have left several dealerships because of salespeople badgering the hell out of me.

For me, a simple, "Hi, welcome to (whatever) Pontiac-Buick-GMC, let me know if you need any help, I'll be around" works perfectly fine. Sometimes I do like having a salesman with me if I have a ton of questions, but if I already know enough about the car (like with the Malibu), the salesman can go take a break for all I care.
