GM corporate styling, something Holden had to incorporate in the design because it was still basically a LWB V-Car.

What I meant to say was that compared to the 1994 US Caprice, the Aussie Caprice of the time was not out if line...
People may or may not like the style but both were popular enough in their respective markets.

I wish GMNA would grow a pair and sign up to Buick Park Avenue and civillian Chevrolet Caprice
because IMO, those cars would have more purchase in the US market than the proposed "SS".

I'll take the 1994 in station wagon form. While I like the 2011, wagons always win with me. Also the 94 can out tow the 2011 by a substantial margin.

Neither one. The 1994 was craptastic and the 2011's interior look like the one from 1994.
    Current Cars:
    2010 Black Impala SS(my baby)
2009 Gold Yukon Denali(wife drives it)
    2010 Black Hummer H3 Alpha(for my off-roading pleasure
    )

    Future Cars:
    The Caddy Flagship
    C7 Corvette
ATS 2.0T AWD Black exterior/Red interior(For my twins)

    2011 of course.
old one was ok in its day especially the ss version.

funny how some here hang it on the commodore when they drive some of GM's infamous fwd us puss barges.

As highly as I hold the Impala SS I do definitely prefer the current Impala.
I want a car so violent that the mere thought of full throttle would cause a heart attack. That actually going wide open throttle in would result in nothing less than instant death!

Overall, the impression was that someone flipped over the bathtub. (Although, I actually kinda like it when doinked.)

The 2011 is very well-proportioned for the size; clear winner on styling considerations.
Remember how everyone called them "Shamu" especially in police-car trim? LOL!

What a weird design, GM really had stones back then to release such strange stuff. So huge, so ugly. Normally you try to make a big car look small, this is a big car that manages to look even bigger, like a person wearing a mumu instead of a well-fitted suit.

Yeah well all the wagons came equipped with a towing kit so they can pull 5,000lbs. I doubt the sedans would go anywhere near that. The 2011 caprice is rated to 2100kgs(4700lbs) so it isn't such a huge margin although yes it is substantial. That is for an 'off the showroom floor' model so the police versions may have an uprated capacity.

You could get a 5k tow rating in the sedans too. It was a 350 with the same 8.5 10 bolt as in the 9C1s. Still though, the '91-'96 B-body cars were butt-ugly and the quality was terrible. I'd rather GM pulled a smoothing, like Ford did with the Crown Vic before the '92 Panther, if they were going to kill it off. The boxy Caprice was a much better vehicle, even if the chassis were a carry over.

Re: 2011 Chevy Caprice vs 1994 Chevy Caprice

The photo of the '94 Caprice is actually a '92, '94 had the open rear wheel wells and diff taillights. I own a '95 Caprice purchased new with the trailer package. Some of the included equipment includes the LT1 350,posi HD diff, oil and tranny coolers,FE3 sport suspension,HD brakes,140 amp alternator and full dual exhaust. It runs 14.9 in the 1/4 mile @ 93 mph! The ride and handling is outstanding and it gets mid 20's mpg.I added an LG Motorsports air intake,K&N filter, throttle body air foil and custom computer tune and it pulls hard all the way to 150mph.My vote is go with the B body

I still have a brochure for the 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood (which is a re-skinned caprice) that indicates it can tow 7000#. I'm assuming the Caprice would be able to do the same given its basically the same car.

You could pull 70 000 lbs with it if you wanted, it would just take a long time to get up to speed and to slow down

I was seriously trying to come up with a trailer to carry the Chris Craft I bought and was planning to use my LeSabre...empty weight of it is 12k lbs

To me, the 1994 looks like a hippo in high heels. The car needed a longer wheelbase.

That rear overhang is just so much. Maybe chopping a foot off the trunk length would be better, it almost looks as though that was the designer's intent but then marketing insisted on a giant trunk, and they tried to play a little with the rear window to compensate.
