Bad? No. Can your friend do better? Yes.

it will be his first car, and he just needs it to get to work and back. just an A-B car. he looked at the insurance for a mazda 3 and it was 300 a month. he is hoping he could do better then that. i told him its not the best car, but for what he needs it seems like its enough.

Re: 2008 Aveo

Buy a 2007 Focus. There should be STILL some on the lot somewhere.

The Focus is a bargain to begin with. If you can find a 2007 model, then the dealership will probably give it to you.

Re: 2008 Aveo

my cusions are import lovers and they just bought a 07 aveo LS because they couldint pass up the warrenty and the amount of the car. i just talked to them the other night and they said its been great. its great on gas and its at 14k with no proplems. also the cobalt/g5 would be another good pick.

Re: 2008 Aveo

For nearly the same money I would, and did buy a Cobalt. the fuel economy is similar and it is fairly roomy and much more powerful than the Aveo.

My '08 Cobalt cost less than 13k and it is an LT model. The LS will definitely save you some bucks.

Mom likes her 2007. Good fuel economy, roomy and it rides well. Havent had to bring it back for anything.

Re: 2008 Aveo

Why does he have to buy new? The car is a Daewoo!!! He can do MUCH better. The idea for a last gen Focus is a good one. Great starter car and really, really cheap. Cheap to buy, work on, buy parts for, and buy gas for.

I sure hope as hell you aren't paying $550/month for an Aveo.

The Aveo 1LT sedan starts at $14,580, and gets 23/32 (automatic).
The Cobalt LS sedan starts at 14,585 at gets 22/31 mpg (automatic).

Re: 2008 Aveo

Not a fan of either the Aveo or the Cobalt, but for around the same money I'd choose the Cobalt every time.

Looks like I would personally get a Cobalt, Similar price, roomy, near identical fuel mileage. Long bloodline of the ol' Cavalier. They were pretty good cars in their day, too.

Re: 2008 Aveo

For what it's worth, the Aveo is roomier than the Cobalt despite its smaller physical size.
