'08 Cobalt SS turbo video around the 'Ring

Sorry if a repost, was bored and looking through youtube when I came across the video of the 2008 Cobalt SS turbocharged version going around the ring. He talks about it as he goes... pretty neat for those who haven't seen it before...

you guys are HORRIBLE^^^^^^*coughF14*xenon*^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

this is old, saw it, and it makes me concerned, all that tire squealing (though it handles awesomely) is not cool. Can't wait to get mine though

Hahaha, he blew the turn at 2:42 and came close to putting it off. Listen to him pause mid sentence. "That was quick."

That would have been about a 9:10 flier, not bad considering the wet.

Due to the huge amount of "not cool" tire squeal I will not consider purchasing this vehicle.

Re: '08 Cobalt SS turbo video around the 'Ring

The biggest thing this video tells me is that GM uses a standing start at the Nurburgring. They also made a complete lap - point to point.

These are things that Nissan DID NOT do with the GTR's 7:38 'Ring time.

Go to youtube and watch the GTR run at the 'Ring. They started the clocks at one point and stopped the clocks about 200 ft before they came back to that same point.

Start:

Finish:

A full lap would add about 6 seconds to their lap time....7:44.54.

They also used a flying start whereas GM uses standing starts.

Interesting. I didnt know this and it gives me more ammo against the "GTR is nearly a god" group.

I love how this car is crazy fast and most people still wont respect it. Anyone know what a 2002 WS6 Trans Am did the ring in?

Using street tires in a FWD application, ANY vehicle would have that amount of "not cool" tire squeal when pushed.

with a drag ready camaro in your avatar, I wouldn't expect anything different.

Thats like saying, due to the huge amount of 'not cool' tire squeal, upon launch, I will not consider purchasing a Corvette

I don't think that's a drag car.

It's actually a Penske Trans Am Camaro, but thanks for playing.

I just hope for your sake the tire squeal is solved by launch.
