Yukon & Denali
Revealed: 2007 GMC Yukon
October 5, 2005 The Best GMT-900 Coverage on the Net! www.gminsidenews.com 2007 GMC Yukon Photos: Anaheim: 2007 Yukon Photos 2007 GMC Yukon Info.: http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/s...d.php?p=365376 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next two versions of GM's new full-size SUVs are on display this week at the California International Auto Show in Anaheim. The GMC Yukon and Yukon Denali, in GM's words, have exceptional driving characteristics. What's immediately obvious, too, is that they have distinctive appearances, much more so than the last editions. The Yukon is the mass-market edition, available in cloth or leather-trimmed versions with rear- or four-wheel drive. Tall headlamps and smart details distinguish the Yukon from the similar Chevrolet Tahoe. Like the Tahoe and the new Denali, the Yukon is longer and wider than the past versions, has a stiffer body structure and a new power-steering rack, and standard anti-lock brakes with stability control. Seventeen-inch wheels are standard on the Yukon, as is a 320-hp, 5.3-liter V-8 engine (though a 290-hp, 4.8-liter version will replace that on rear-drive models later in the model year, GM says). The Yukon Denali, meanwhile, gets some exclusivity added to its image in the 2007 edition. A new 380-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 mated to a tap-shift six-speed automatic transmission is reserved for the Denali model. A chromed grille, different head and taillamps and special 18-inch wheels separate it from the Yukon as well as automatic climate control and remote starting. Both the Yukon and Denali offer a laundry list of options, including running boards, a power tailgate, DVD navigation and a DVD entertainment system, as well as three-row side-curtain airbags (standard on the Denali). Both versions will be on sale in the first quarter of 2006.

Re: Yukon & Denali
The sides look a little too much like an Explorer's, and look a little too car like for a GMC, but other than that, they're pretty good.
I like the vertical headlights; they make it look like a Cadillac. Seaking of Cadillac, do you know when the Escalade photos are coming out?

Re: Yukon & Denali
These are real nice. I think I like the Tahoe front end just a little better, but the GMC version is nice too. WOW....GM's got a homerun with these SUV's. Just in time too, because of the slowing sales because of gas prices, they need some incentive to buy an SUV..these will sure draw attention when they come into the dealerships. Way to go GM!

Re: Yukon & Denali
Headlight treatment seems overbaked. If you relax your eyes as if you're looking at one of those 3D images, it looks pretty goofy, actually.
The improved interior is about the only thing that makes these things any better/much different than the current models. Oh, and that unbelievable claim about a 25% gain in fuel economy. The large SUV is as good as dead, anyway. It'll be like 1975 all over again ... only the people who truly need or gotta-have one of these things will buy one. GM's been buring all the cash on the 900 while car programs ride the back burner. It'll be the last straw that kicks Rick Wagoner onto the street. Guaranteed. |

The GMs look too Envoy-ish. Or trying to be an STS front clone.

Re: Yukon & Denali
Hahaha! I'm an idiot! I saw the two, recognized that they were very similar, and was about to yell "REBADGE" when I realised they're both GMCs! Oops! That is so smooth (they weren't joking about the aerodynamics). If Buick made a truck, that'd be it. They are nicely differentiated from the Checy SUVs. Now more than ever I think there's a relevance to GMC and Chevy Trucks co-exisiting. But if the GMC's are this nice, how good will the Caddy's look?!?

Gas will be below 2.00 gallon before too long. 2 weeks ago, the SUV bashers were saying 5.00/gal by Friday!
