The Tundra is built cheap, even by today's standards. Start with the C-channel frame with riveted in stamped steel crossmembers. Then look at the huge panel gaps because of the flexy frame. Low payload too. Then look at the thin sheetmetal which dents when you lean on it (several reports of this on TS). Then look at the cheesy interior. Painted dash and plastic panels, which wears off when wiping it and rubbing your knee on the door panel. Fisher-Price quality control knobs, poor ergonomics (some controls are actually closer to passenger than driver). Poor paint, scratches and rubs off easily. Lots of reports of rattles too. I sat in one and could not believe how cheap that interior is...not to mention butt-ugly!!! I can't decide which is uglier, the interior or exterior. At least Toyota was consistent. But again, at least it's quick, huh?

Re: Tundra Supplants Sierra As the #4 Half-Ton?
Ok, I thought this topic was about sales, not ranting about who's truck is better! If you want a true view of how Toyota is making sales then look no further. Give me alittle respect and read what I have to say.
I am 100% American and Love this Country. I joined the Corps right out of High School, served my County here and overseas. I entered Law Enforcement after that and have been serving my community since. My vehicles have been: 6 fords 2 pontiacs 1 chevy 1 saturn 1 buick 1 Dodge 3 harley davidsons I can't begin to name my wife's vehicles, she has had her fair share prior to hitching up with me. She was born and raised in Lavonia MI and alot of her family had ties to Ford and GM. I know that she owned both a Ranger and F-150, which she loved and still talks about. Until 2007 I have never owned a "import" my first was earlier this year when I went shopping for a new van to replace my well used E-150 custom van. I wanted smaller and better MPG. I was shocked that I counldn't find a Windstar, my ex-wife is still driving our old one, around 200k I believe. So I looked at the Chevy van, not pretty! A friend that I have that works at the dealership steered me away from them, siting mechanical issues. So I looked at Saturn and then to Honda. I was blown away by the Honda Van, features, ride etc.... So there I was my first "import" purchase. As Sept rolled around I began looking at trucks to replace our 1993 Explorer with 137k. We wanted something that all of us could fit in and we could tow a small camper, but with room to move up in size, if needed. I required a crew cab with a bench seat. Went to Ford First, I love Fords and love the look, old as it may be, of the F-150. Then to Chevy & GM, to my surprise I was told by 2 seperate sales people that I couldn't get a crew with a bench, to this day that just doesn't seem right! maybe they were idiots? So I was set on a F-150 and eyeing a F-250 for more room. A friend at work overheard me talking about trucks and invited me to look at his new truck, a Tundra. I was turned off to start; but gave him credit and looked it over. I was sold from the start. The next morning I went to the Toyota dealer a took a CrewMax out for the day. The points that sold me over the F-150: The 5.7 plus 6 speed, just a blast to drive. Reclining rear seats. Roll down rear window and price. I went back and forth to Ford hoping to find something... but in the end I purchased an 07 Crewmax 5.7 very nicely Eq. out the door for $28k $6500 under MSRP. I guess my point is... Toyota had the features that I wanted. I'm not hauling 8k to a work site, pulling cargo trailers over cliffs or stopping airplanes. I'm going to Lowes, taking the family camping, pulling a camper once a month or so.. Faith in Ford and GM? I don't know? My wife's uncle got a letter a few weeks back saying that the Federal Courts have ruled that Ford could drop retirees from the promised health care coverage. The only exception was if they were onboard with the UAW; in that case they kept their coverage. I just wonder how many folks loyal to Ford lost their healthcare that day? Do I blame Toyota or Honda, no, they are making great products and advancing lines in the direction folks are looking for. I think Ford & GM need to put less money in the Corporate pockets and help out all the BlueNecks working their a$$'s off and come out with some desired products. When I walked the Ford lines the F-150's were all in the $37-39k range, very little in the lower 30's. Sure you can go online and build one, but it's not on the lot! I went to Toyota and most all the Tundra's were $32-35k with $3k back from Toyota just to start! I could go on and on, but I only hope that this wakes up Ford and GM, I would buy a Ford or GM again, but they will have to build one to suit my needs in a comparible price range. I think I represent the majority of truck buyers and I am not afraid to say that I'm a weekend warrior not a daily truck hauling train pulling god; "as seen on TV" Drive what you like! Just my 2 cents! |

Incredible. A mass pilgrimage of first time Tundra-slurping fans that found just this site. Not, one, not two, but more. Just like lemmings. Guys, you're embarrassing yourself, especially given your vengeful lack of humor, low level of discourse, and your demonstrated inability to grasp the nature of this website. Really, you should be slurping with others of your ilk at a more appropriate Tumper web site. It's in your best interest. BTW, in future posts, I will be addressing each of you with the honorific "Tumper". I sincerely hope you understand how much respect that truly conveys. VMax2007 - You seem to be very threatened by Toyotas, why is this? I'm new to trucks, and new to the Tundra. I found many of your comments and detailed replies very interesting.

Re: Tundra Supplants Sierra As the #4 Half-Ton?
I say we simply ignore these Toyoyo fanboy trolls and they will go away. They will get bored eventually and go back home to TS to play with their other Toyoyo Turdra fanboys where they can talk about how they LOVE their race car Tundra's, in between all of the posts complaining of what a POS they are..."But they still love'em".
You guys are hypocrites, you attack anyone who posts anything negative on TS, then you come here and do the same thing. Oh and yeah, I am SO "threatened" by the Tundra...LMAO!!! ![]()

VMax2007 - I actually found your list of Tundra problems interesting and enlightening. I knew of the big ones, but there were some lesser ones that I wasn't aware of and will now keep an eye out for, no slam.

Re: Tundra Supplants Sierra As the #4 Half-Ton?
you guys just cant take a former loyal gm owner going to the tundra. and you cant take the truth about how gm has gone down in the last 7 years.
i am not saying everone has had problems with there gm's. but like you told me go do a google search and you will find thousand of complaints. problems of gm brakes, tranny, rearends, wind noise, piston slap, oil burn 3 qt's of oil in between oil changes. air cond, brake rotor rust and fall apart. vmax you sound like you work for gm and you just dont want to admit gm has some major problems. tundra will have some problems but i dont think any where near what i have had with my 02 2500hd and 02 monte carlo ss. you can call me a troll if you want just because i dumped gm. |

Re: Tundra Supplants Sierra As the #4 Half-Ton?
You Toyota people just fail. Our GM trucks are obviously 5 times better than your wannabe american, un-patriotic pathetic excuses of a truck. Toyota as a company will be in the same position Gm was 2 years ago, in about 5 years, just watch.
Toyota knows that their quality has slipped since they have wanted to become #1, and their recalls and complaints are acknowledging this. Look at the GM Truck Talk forum here, theres about 1 or 2 Complaints about the GMT900's. Not much at all. Look at the Tundra Solutions Forum, what a Mess! Tranny failures, rough suspension, brake failures, peeling interior trim, cheap headliners, camshafts... They all say its first model year bugs, but how come the big Toy never had any 1st year model stuff before all this crap about being #1. Its obvious that Toyota's are made of crap, and look like it as well, and they will never be as good as they were in the 80's when they were Made in Japan. So all you Tundra failures, just leave here now and don't come back unless you want to buy a GM vehicle. We dont need or want your crap about your wannabe american BS.
