Tony Stewart, the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion, visited the GM Arlington Assembly Plant this afternoon to help build a 2007 Chevy Tahoe.

Stewart visited the Texas plant to perform several jobs in the general assembly process and meet with GM employees that work on the various lines.

Plans are in development for the final Tahoe that Stewart drives off the line be used at several promotional events and eventually be auctioned off for charity.

Stewart's visit to the plant today helped kick off Arlington production of the 2007 Chevy Tahoe. The new Tahoe will be available in dealer showrooms beginning in January.

I bet he would be rather building a ZO6 or a Camaro. Ha! I said it first.

Re: Tony Stewart's Tahoe

This SUV is more important to GM than the Z06. I think it's a good publicity stunt. And it'll even help charity!

Well that's nice... I'm sure some sucker will pay double what it's worth. But it doesn't even sound like they're auctioning off one that he actually worked on.

Re: Tony Stewart's Tahoe

I wonder what celebrity could be up next for a publicity spot at our plant in Janesville?? It's for a good cause though. FYI, the build out for the 800 is under way and we will produce the last 800 model here tommorrow. Let the 900s roll on jan. 9 2006 when we come back.

If Tony is making UAW wages for his work he might retire from NASCAR early.

As soon as they outsource driving race cars, Tony and the rest of the boys will be happy to earn their fat paychecks without risking their lives.

Re: Tony Stewart's Tahoe

Here GM does something for the guys on the line AND a few on the downside of good luck.

It's no wonder the net has so much porn on it. It really is a waste land.

BTW, there isn't a single regular Joe out there on the line that doesn't apreciate what GM did, too bad the guys with keyboards and no guts don't get it.
