Re: Spied 2010 GMC Sierra 2500

The grill on this '10 model mule looks more like the 1/2 ton models do now. Without the big exhaust tip on the back, I would have thought it was a 1/2 ton. Make the 1/2 tons and HD's look different, make them their own. And I'll chime in saying that I do think GMC will be axed, sooner or later. I just can't see GM having two brands that have the same thing. Ford doesn't have Mercury Super Dutys and Dodge doesn't have Jeep Ram HD's, why would you want to cut into each others sales.

Re: Spied 2010 GMC Sierra 2500

Other than front bumper and diesel engine changes - nothing else is being re-done? Thinking of getting an 09 HD but should I wait for the 10 model - assuming its available in 2010?

I've read this somewhere too.

Would they need a new frame to handle the new torque ratings for the 2010 Duramax? Maybe that's the reason.

I was hoping the new frame wouldn't drop down so much under the cab but this 2010 mule still shows that drop down in the frame, unless it's riding on the old frame.

Re: Spied 2010 GMC Sierra 2500

And what does this mean?

Quote:
Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra: The first order of business is the refresh of the HD trucks for 2010 model-year. That is still on (as the spy shots suggest). After that, the Silverado line is expected to stay intact on the C3XX platform.
They're not currently on the C3XX platform so how can they "stay intact"? I thought the arrival of the C3XX platform in 2012-2013 was put on hold?

Re: Spied 2010 GMC Sierra 2500

I would expect that any tranny and rear end choices will have to do with input torque capabilities. I'd think that a regular old 8.5" diff and a 4L60E wouldn't last very long with 520lbs/ft of torque.

Not to mention any loads one might put on the truck by towing...will be interesting to see what the powertrain engineers come up with.
