Re: Spied: 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty

I just don't understand people who say that the GMT-900's are ugly. Ugly is the Tundra. The Silverado and Sierra are both solid looking trucks. From the spy pics, other then the grille, I like what I see for a mid-gen update. The new bumper shown is real nice, but I don't have any problem with what is on them now either. I am hoping that the 1500 grille on that HD is just for test purposes, because to see them use a grille that small for their HD trucks, would look silly. If anything I would like there to be a bigger difference in the look of the 1/2 tons to the HD's. I might not be the biggest fan of Ford's, but I do like how you can look at a Super Duty and a 1/2 ton and tell them apart with your eyes closed. I'm hoping the new grille for the Silverado will be keeping with the big theme like the 900's are. Plus, I'm still waiting to look under the front of a Silverado HD and find a SFA. It's a HEAVY DUTY truck, please build it like it is. You have a great engine/trany combo, now just finish the job!

As for the Alli getting more gears, if there is any truth to that, I'm all for that! Bring on 8, 12, or hell, even 18!!!

I'm gonna hopefully find out if the tranny actually does have any more gears sometime this week.

I'm in the mindset that the Allison Trans having 12 or 18 gears is as likely as pigs flying. That is a pipe dream. But I would put money on the Alli getting bumped up to 8 speeds. That I would love.

You are right on the money. This truck is just bone ugly. The General needs some new design talent call in some kids from third grade. The design guys need to GO.

So there's one fan of the current ugly setup. The current setup on HDs and 1500s sent me running for GMC when it was time for me to upgrade from my last Chevy.

Re: Spied: 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty

ok so I found out today, that as of right now, it still is using the current 6-speed allison. He didnt hear of anything about a new transmission so we'll see I guess. And now they might be using single turbo instead of twin-turbo

It sent you running for something that looks like a Ford F-150 in the front. Thats why I dont like the looks of the GMC its too Ford looking from the front.

Re: Spied: 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty

alright so I found out the deal on the twin-turbo. Long story short they were testing out 1500's with the 4.5L and 2500's with the 6.6L over in colorado towing, and the 4.5's were out pacing the 6.6's. So now they're going to try out a variable vein turbo setup and then send them back out to colorado in a few weeks.

Re: Spied: 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty

Hum, it has potential, let's not doubt the folks at GM.

The idea of the exterior is there, not any huge changes for the 2500HD regular model.

But what's under the hood?

over 700LBS FT Torque is nice though.I still think this truck looks goofy.it's not nearly as nice looking as the Ford SuperDuty. But that extra punch will humble the SuperDuty.
