Re: Spied: 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty

What the heck? It looks like they did away with the "BEEFY" HD front end and changed it to the 1500 front end, but I am curious what the BIG CHANGES UNDERNEATH means? I have not heard anything about new engines for the HD, so I have no clue, but I do like the new front bumper with fog lights! I am just wondering why they are making it look more like a 1500 instead of a big "BEEFY" HD?

front bumper is better but the whole truck is still ugly..

and before some of you start the predictable badmouthing, styling is subjective and I prefer the look of the GMC over the Chevy

After reading the article... you will find that the grill is being used from a 1500 temporarily and that the speculations are that there may be a revised Duramax to meet 2010 emission requirements and possibly more gears to stuff in the Allison tranny... maybe 8 cogs or as much as 12 (similiar to what's found in the big rigs...)...

I like the front bumper on this 2010 model... much more attractive than the current offerings...

Wow, 8 or 12 cogs, that could put GM way ahead of anyone else out there. Not that they sell many of these now days as compared to a year ago.

I prefer this look much better over the overstyled heavy look of the current, it appears more refined, but that is simply my preference!

I agree the truck is still terribly ugly although the new front bumper is a huge improvement. It still has the 1984 Dodge Caravan look-alike headlight treatment and probably still has the same old torsion bar front suspension as well. Just another old GM HD whore with new lipstick.

GM quit building trucks in 2007. What a pity to have such a great powertrain in such an ill conceived package. GMT900’s suck.
GM is the leader in powertrain technology….why are they putting great powertrains in terrible wrappers?

Aero maybe???

Is 2010 the year that the urea injection to treat exhaust starts?

Also, how about an "economy" mode for the Dmax (or any engine) that could be activated by a console button to improve economy? Push the button and the engine is tuned down to a low hp mode for when you're just loping around. When you're towing, go back to full power an let it rip. Would that even be possible with today's electronic engine management?
