Will it siphon off Saturn sales? Hopefully GM will further differentiate the sheet metal.
No it won't - as it appears, very little people cross-shop Saturn and GMC. And any dollar spent on differentiating the sheetmetal is lost. The Outlook and Acadia have different sheetmetal, yet they both look almost the same anyway, and I don't think the different sheetmetal aids sales in any meaningful way...

Not arguing with you, but "Doesn't fit in to Pontiac's DNA?" What do you call the GXP Torrent? They are doing the same thing they did with the Bonneville. They finally have the best version out, and they say they will cancel it. I just don't get it sometimes. GXP version of the Torrent is fine, so maybe they could cancel the regular versions of that vehicle, and be good. Wow, can't believe they would come out with all those revisions, then a model year later get rid of it.

There's no reason the Torrent has to go because GMC now has a version of that SUV/crossover. Too many choices is a bad thing? Not in my opinion, have as many choices to a customer as you can, to get the most out of a certain chassis. Doesn't have to be a rebadge, but rather be different enough looking between the divisions to make sense.

There is no good news here.

WRONG. My wife wouldn't be caught dead in a Saturn (bad experience with a SL1). Justified or not, her mind cannot be changed on this.

This "rebadge" could enable sale for us.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone.

My wife wouldn't drive a saturn either. GMC yes. Saturn no..(don't ask me why)

I think you nailed Saturn's main problem - distribution limited to primarily Metro area's. Then again, perhaps that's not a problem? Perhaps Saturn has just the right number of sales for their intended market?

I was only observing that Saturn has minimal exposure with rural buyers, a fact that is sometimes overlooked when some people try to compare Saturn's sales to those of much larger competitors. Will the Malibu sell in larger quantities than the Aura? With 4,000 or Chevy dealers, I sure hope it does.

There's a lot to be said about being able to walk through your local car lot at your leisure to look at models.
