Considering this is based on the same platform as the Colorado (well, almost) and the Thai built Colorado has a 3l common rail diesel I cannot see why this engine can't be used.

Plus you get all that torque with a deisel. Perfect for pick-ups.

Honestly, I think they'll sell every one of the 35,000 they build. I'm sure they could sell more. Maybe it has to do with the limited number of dealerships. Plus it keeps things exclusive.

Too bad it wont happen! We never get the diesels due to our overly pickey emissions standards. Trucks and cars with diesels would get to good of fuel economy, and thats not good for Big Oil. And we all know what Big Oil wants Big Oil gets? Thats whay we will be stuck with a underpowered 5cyl, or a V8 that is rated at 13/16 (thats what the regular H3 is rated at anyway). I am with everyone else, I would love to see a diesel in it, and the Colorado also, but it just wont happen.

Higher car prices coming.. 38 minutes ago
<<<DETROIT (AP) -- U.S. automobile prices could rise significantly in the near future because of industry restructuring, rising raw materials and regulatory costs, General Motors's (GM, Fortune 500) chief financial officer said Tuesday.

Fritz Henderson said the industry has less manufacturing capacity than in the past and therefore less pressure to sell vehicles cheaply just to move inventory.

It also faces higher raw materials costs, rising technology costs and increased costs from fuel economy and other government regulations, he said.

While the U.S. market still is competitive, "you could potentially see a significant change from what we've seen in the last eight or 10 years," Henderson said during a speech to the Automotive Press Association in Detroit>>>
