Re: No V8 For Colorado/Canyon Until 2009
If they already spent the money to design it were the V8 would fit they would be idiots not to offer it. I will buy one as soon as they make it. Look at the sales of the G8 GT they are flying off the lots here in south Florida at sticker price. Put that motor out of the G8 GT and really make us V8 guys HAPPY

Re: No V8 For Colorado/Canyon Until 2009
No. No matter how many different times we've heard that the V8 will/won't be available in the 355s, its always been the non-AFM version. It'll probably be flexfuel capable (I don't know if any of the 5.3Ls aren't), but it has never been rumored to have the Active Fuel Management or DoD or whatever you want to call it.

I know that employees work for GM are on this sight. Any factory workers know any thing or maybe dealership employees or owners can help us V8 guys out?.
Thanks from South east Florida |

Re: No V8 For Colorado/Canyon Until 2009
What is the advantage of useing the 4.8 instead of the 5.3 to either GM or the consumer?

Stumbled onto several 2009 GMC Canyons at my local dealer this weekend!
They were 5 cylinder SL and SLE models w. stabilitrak. Even with the cloth seats, the interior looked improved. The adjacent Chevy dealer had NO Colorados yet. Will keep an eye out for the loaded V8's! ![]()

Re: No V8 For Colorado/Canyon Until 2009
Remote start is nice! My dad's HHR has it and I use it each and every time I drive it.
So is it still unknown if the 2009 Colorado/Canyons will actually have the V8 or not? Seems like some posts on this thread seem to suggest that the program got cancelled and some seem to suggest that we are waiting for them to get here, and others don't know. What's the latest info regarding the V8's from GM? |

Playa,
I also have remote start on HHR. It's a cool feature. I love the thing. Quote:

Re: No V8 For Colorado/Canyon Until 2009
Distribution Updates
Updates for Canyon Week of 7/21/2008 Effective 7/21/2008, the following changes will be made to the Vehicle Order Guide: Retail Mechanical section-Suspension, front independent with torsion bar, updated footnote 2 to read "Standard on 4WD models. Included on 2WD models with (LH8) 5.3L V8 SFI engine." Evidently, the V8 is still planned, at least as of next week. I'm not sure how many V8's will sell with these gas prices, very few average Joes (and Janes) aren't gearheads like the members of this site. |

Re: No V8 For Colorado/Canyon Until 2009
It sucks that you've got to get the jacked-up suspension with the V8.
