Re: No V8 For Colorado/Canyon Until 2009

Hopefully the new motors will come with an extensive MCE. Although it's probably wishful thinking to think that's why they waited.

There's no plans to ever put the 5.3 in the regular cab.

Unless they get a major MCE in 2009, I don't see the point. At all.

Not sure this matters with $5+ a gallon gas.

Neither do I.......the Colorado/Canyon are the fugliest GM-produced vehicles since the CSVs......right now, the 5.3L would the the only redeeming quality I'd probably find on either truck......

I miss the S10 though (which was produced in both SS and eXtreme variants.....)

That's a shame really. With all the worry about fuel mileage, the lightest model would get the best mpg. And that seals the fate of me ever buying a Colorado/Canyon. I'll keep holding out for a Ute.

I would bet that the 5.3 with DOD would probably get better mileage than the current Atlas I5 and is probably lighter.

Re: No V8 For Colorado/Canyon Until 2009

Yep that's my point as well, the regular cab is some 160 pounds lighter than the extended cab. I'd want the highest HP and lowest weight combination. So no reg cab 2wd V8 = no sale for me.

I agree with the general sentiment........why bother.

I wouldn't expect near that much HP. I think they are only rating the H3 Alpha in the high 200's, maybe 280's? Had something to do with things being so cramped they had to do some funky exhaust routing, thereby reducing HP significantly. I think you'd see the same issue in the Colorado/Canyon.

I would love to have a pickup for weekend jobs, but I don't want have to drive something as large as the Silverado every day. For me, it's not a matter of cost - it's the packaging. There are a lot of tiny parking spaces where I live.

Me too, the only thing that kept me from getting a Canyon/Colorado a couple of years ago was the interior. I can deal with the power shortage but not with the interior because that is what you look at all the time. These trucks are sized just right for suburbanites and they aren't too awful on fuel.

I Thought 09 was the year that the Colorado/Canyon finally got a major makeover. We have seen toyoduh and nissan refresh their trucks twice already while the Ranger/Colorado and Canyon wither away.

They would still do that with a V8, but just not as badly. I hate the interior of those things and I would prefer my 4.3l V6 over the small Atlas engines. I just wish they would redo the TB/Envoy and Colorado/Canyon together like they use to do with the S-10 series. A bigger size Colorado/Canyon and more engine options would be great for both. I would like to see the 4.2 Atlas in the Colorado/Canyons, to bad they design the nose to small to fit the long six.

I am sorry, I really hate the interior. I like my 12 year old Blazer interior over the Colorado/Canyon over baked interior.
