New Tahoe Gets 5-Stars In NHTSA Crash Test

Link: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=109679

Full article at link.

Article quote:

The 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, which went on sale in January, received five stars on frontal crashes.

Other vehicles from the 2006 model year earning five stars in both seating positions for frontal crashes include the Buick Lucerne, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Express, Chevrolet HHR, Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Chevrolet Uplander, Dodge Caravan, Ford Expedition, Honda Civic, Hyundai Accent, Jeep Commander, Kia Sedona and Lexus ES 330.

What this means to you: Good news for consumers, because, on a scale of one to five stars, NHTSA says most of the vehicles tested received either four or five stars on front and side crashes.

So I guess the rumors about the Aveo being a death trap were bs.

The Aveo always has 5 star front crash ratings.

I remember that rumor too and it made me mad that the new Aveo looked good but had a bad crash test rating... Obviously it was bs. this is good news..... but who would make something up like that?

Re: New Tahoe Gets 5-Stars In NHTSA Crash Test

I can't imagine how any truck this size can not get 5-stars.

Good for GM advertising and sales though. I hear GM is boosting production by 12,000 units for 06. At $15,000 profit per, that $180 million to the bottom line. Not bad.

I know we all hate the CSV's, but I have to say that the saftey difference between the old vans and the new vans is pretty dramatic. Adding about 18 inches to the nose and boxing it really improved the crash worthiness of this otherwise pitiful vehicle....Uplander, Terrazza, Montana, Relay.

Re: New Tahoe Gets 5-Stars In NHTSA Crash Test

The Aveo does well in this test because it's amazingly easy to do well in. This is a 30MPH test into a flat barrier. However when the Aveo is crashed into a deformable barrier on only the driver side at 40MPH, the thing fell apart. Maybe it just can't handle certain high speed situations. Anyway, the Tahoe has improved every single year and now it's perfect. Nicely done GM.

All right!

Just when ou thought it could not get any better for this new line. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the line-up (trucks and suburbans/yukons)
holds up in the crash tests.

Re: New Tahoe Gets 5-Stars In NHTSA Crash Test

there is no excuse for the new Tahoe to NOT get a 5 star rating. it's great that GM designed it well, but i don't necessarily think any automaker should be put on a pedestal for designing safe vehicles, they should all be doing that in this day and age.

Not really, but if a Tahoe hits you in your Aveo consider yourself a done.

And it was testing done in another country (Australia? if i remember right). But the Insurance institute for highway safety ratings are the ones to watch, its normally tougher to get a high rating with the way they test
