How bad ass would this thing be with a Duramax? I would buy one if I had the money.

Re: New spy photos of new, bigger H2 SUT

I can see this being of interest to the military and that is why G.M. has painted it that way. They do the same with the 9C1 Impala. I believe, like some others contributing to this thread, that G.M. would be the subject of too much negative publicity if it sold a civvy version in these, "green times."

Taller windshield? Look at how high the windshield is compared to the side windows? How is this on the previous H2?

I smell military on this one. I think they are using a new larger chassis with H2 skin as a mule. We might see some changes with the exterior as the program matures.

No, you're kidding, right? Are you suggesting GM doesn't have possibly the worst reputation to overcome? That Hollywood didn't make critical movie about the death of electric cars with GM as the protagonist - even though we all know the movie was BS? That when people think gas guzzler, they think GM? Even an MSNBC article on the new two-mode Tahoe, was still entitled "Anything to get people to buy a gas guzzler" - even though its gets 22mpg city.

GM has the worst perception problem on the planet. They are scrutinized by everyone at ever level - even people this board. Priority #2, immediately following consistently building quality and stylish cars, is repairing their utterly destroyed reputation.

So yes, VCDJ has a valid point. We read news like this just days after Congress passes a 35 mpg CAFE standard....it leaves one thinking, "WTF GM?".

Re: New spy photos of new, bigger H2 SUT

It would be a thing to try advertising Hummers as rugged utility vehicles that can do any job instead of just rugged and a little gas-thirsty vehicles. Pickup-trucks get a pass from the media by beeing usefull. Not so much the big SUVs.
H3T with a long bed could even get kudos from the media. So, it would be just a more fancy, luxurious, powerfull, get anywhere work truck(not gas-gusler), not just a lame Colorado\Canyon.
However, this H2 would be over the top.
In this age of Volts and Priuses, Hummer should be about off-road, fun (H4), utility in an attractive package(H3T), the 20 mpg H3, and a little less talk about H2 or this beast pictures above. GM could try passing it like a Hummer version of Silverado 2500, very usefull and all, but carandriver or motortrend would kill it.

What are you smoking? Not everyone cares about a green image. Besides, Hummer is not meant to be green. Their image is all about building big offroad capable vehicles. If I want to buy a large vehicle that is safer to drive for me and my family the tree huggers can kiss my A$$!

But anyway, if it is has military painting it should be developed for the army. I don't remember seeing spy photos of Camaros or CTSs painted like that. So, it should be a military version only.

Really this would only take capacity away from other HD pickups so the GM net doesn't change. Hummer already has this relationship. Toyota on the other hand just doubled their full size truck production under the same brand as their Prius.

GM, and others, just make what people want. When people stop wanting them they'll stop making them.

Re: New spy photos of new, bigger H2 SUT

Look at the front skidplate.

The whole truck is sitting higher on it's frame than the regular H2.

I bet that means that there is an Allision transmission in that Hummer....which is the only transmission available with the Duramax engine.
