Re: New GM Trucks Gain Traction Against Competitors In Slippery Market

Just returned from a weekend along the New England coast. Saw plenty of new Silverados and Sierras, however, I was stunned by how many new Tundras I saw. I would never buy one even though I think it is a very very good looking vehicle.

Re: New GM Trucks Gain Traction Against Competitors In Slippery Market

I want the new Chevy D-Max more now than ever. But with more emissions regs coming shortly in 2010 and the rumour of a 7.4L D-Max, I think I'll hold out.

How does a 7.4L D-Max with a SFA sound?? I'll take one!!

Yeah but seems pretty limited, only like 20-25 engines so far. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

One mistake in the article, stabilitrak is NOT avail on any reg cab pickups, I tried to order it and could not. Maybe they'll add it.

Wonder if they will offer the 6.2L/6 speed in the RCSB for 09?? That would be awesome (and mean trading in too)!!

Keep GMC. Its gives everyone a choice, a different style and is better styled this time around IMHO.

What were you smoking in New England? Or did you just eat too many Oysters and Lobsters?

6.0/6spd is standard in the 2500HD. Saw one yesterday and had to look twice at it to make sure it was a 2500. Sure looked nice. The guy had put wheels and tires on it that really filled the wheel wells up.........

I would love to see Chevy outsell Ford in the pick up race this year. Not likely though. I would imagine Ford would sell them at a loss before they lost the best selling truck title.

My current ride - 2004 Mazda6s - V6 with a five speed manual. GM forced me to the competition because they didn't offer a midsize sedan with a V6 and manual transmission.

Vehicles like this are the reason why I don't accept less than class-leading efforts in every market niche in which GM competes. The company can definitely do so when it sets its mind to the task.

And kudos to GM for its sales success!
Amen to this!

I was referring to your comment about the Tundra's being nice looking. Must have been something in the water then?

Re: New GM Trucks Gain Traction Against Competitors In Slippery Market

As I posted in another thread, the Silverado is kicking ass in the West. I only saw one Tundra in Wyoming and it was in the yuppie town of Jackson.

I'm starting to see lots more Silverados here too, but the Tundra still has a big presence, unfortunately.

Well up here in Western Canada, I see lots of Sierras, some Silverados and a few Tundras. Crewcabs seem to be the most popular in all makes. Not sure what official numbers are for GM Canada.

Re: New GM Trucks Gain Traction Against Competitors In Slippery Market

I have seen a good number of Silverados and Sierras around here. I've only seen maybe one or two Tundras, but this is the Midwest.

I would love for Chevy to outsell Ford, but not by getting rid of GMC. GM would lose overall sales just to get the title. Hopefully they can keep up the great sales when the new F-150 comes out.

Getting rid of GMC would be a stupid move. I really don't like the new Silverado styling...without the Sierra I would not have stayed with GM (sorry) this time around.
