Come to think of it... I only have experience with the 800's... so... maybe the 900s really jumped the shark?

I'm surprised it didn't soldier on. It was seriously innovative, though, I guess no one cared?

I'd have loved to have been on GMI when that came out.

Anyway...

I'm a little confused, in real world situations, where you would absolutely NEED a flatter surface, or need the 3rd seat to be gone. Do shopping trips requiring a huge flat surface just spring up on the fly?

What are you lugging around that can't be stored behind the 3rd seat?
It's a matter of convenience. It's not springing up on the fly- if you're planning to transport something large, like a piece of furniture for example, it's much more convenient to be able to fold down a seat than lug it out of the vehicle and put it somewhere, and put it back in when you need it. On trips with more luggage it's more convenient as you can put the seats in whatever combination of the passengers and cargo. You can still have the seat in case you need it later too (such as when visiting family and traveling in one vehicle vs. more).

You are absolutely right, the third row in both was horrible, you reminded me of how many times I had to lug those third row seats in and out. Other manufacturers could do it, why not GM? Sure wasn't because the Yukon was so low to the ground....

Looking at monthly sales figures comparing the Tahoe and Expo, this isn't a big issue...

Good deal! Actually LISTEN to what us customers want General, and you'll be back in no time!

I also agree that these big trucks need to stay BOF. GM has more than enough unibodys for folks who want them.

Re: More Tell Fritz product news: GMT900 SUVs to get flat load floors

I wonder how long GM is going to keep those big RWD SUVs around. The FWD Equoinox seems like a better alternative to the RWD Tahoe in the current time. Even the Tahoe hybrid doesnt even get close to Equinox EPA ratings, but I will admit that the GMT-900 SUVs are safer and bigger. Plus they're just so good looking! Whatever makes money! I actually dont want these trucks to disapear into the mist, gone the way of the Vega/Monza/Chevette. Just doesnt seem right/ make sense to have Tahoe/Yukon go away. I think this new addition of a flat-fold 3rd row will make it even more appealing to people looking for a new SUV.

Good move GM. Listen to us more and you'll make some serious cash!

There is NO reason for them to go away. They are popular with a loyal fan base. It ain't rocket science, keep plum building and improving them!

Re: More Tell Fritz product news: GMT900 SUVs to get flat load floors

If they can't make a profit on 90k Tahoes (Not even considering the Yukon and Escalade variants) a year at sticker prices often well above 50k there is something very very wrong.

Since they have right sized production I don't think this will be an issue.

I think they can, and do.

Absolutely not! Just because GMC is getting more of an identity apart from Chevrolet (as well it should) doesn't mean GM should emasculate Chevy Trucks!
Yep... Chevy trucks outsell GMC by what? 60-70%? You wanna tick off alot of Chevrolet owners go right ahead.. I wouldn't count on them buying a Chevrolet car ever again though. Guys who buy Chevy trucks generally buy a Chevy car as well and vice versa. GMC doesn't sell cars. I'll add this... In the 'car wars' it's always been Chevy Vs. Ford (Dodge being the distant third). Well, it's the same way with trucks. Chevy Vs. Ford... not GMC Vs. Ford. Chevy owners are diehards and if you don't give them a real truck to compete against Ford they'll take it personal. Much like the Pontiac guys did when GM shut em down. I'd venture to say Dodge would selling Alot of Rams to former Chevy truck owners. GMC was never the 'Heartbeat of America'.... Chevrolet was.
