I agree the Colorado could really use an update inside and out. I've heard a few times that the 6-speed won't fit in a Hummer H3 and since the Colorado is on the same chassis I assume it won't fit in there either.

I've always thought the Trailblazer would be a much better vehicle with the 4.2L if it had a 6-speed to keep it in the proper powerband. I think they still look fine on the outside but the interior was old school when it first launched years ago. New interior (but not fancy or expensive), 6-speed auto, better handling suspension and keep the prices low. There is still a market for them just smaller than before. It looks like GM is going to kill it by never updating it which only hurts GM's reputation. Continued downward sales are likely but guaranteed to be much faster with no updates. Another example where GM is just spread too thin.

I agree, this should a major priority for GM right now.

With Ford going full steam ahead with an F100, GM need to answer this.

And if the fuel crisis gets any worse, then mid-size trucks will really take off.
I'm sure Toyota's Tacoma is ready to run away with this segment as well, just like GM + Ford have been caught with their pants down on small + mid size cars.

Toyota have played a real smart game and out-foxed them all.

Re: Meet Your 2009 Chevrolet Truck Lineup

I notice Avalanche gets standard 6-speed but Silverado does not. What is the story there and how many Silverado's are likely to be built with 6-speeds? If I understand correctly, the 6-speed was available on Silverado's part-way through the last cycle but pretty much every one I look at on the lots is 4-speed...was it special-order only or something? If I buy one in the future, new or used, I'd really want the 6-speed...and I wonder how much this limits my selection.

RSW,

There are a lot of Silverado 4-speeds sitting on the lots. So I'm guessing that you will be able to get the 6-speed soon, but many dealerships will give you a far better deal on an existing 4-speed than on a new or special order 6-speed.

You understand incorrectly. The ONLY Silverados to date to have 6 spds are the HD's. NO pre-2009 Silverado 1/2 tons came with a 6 spd. Not even "Special Order".

The only pre-2009 GMT900 1/2 ton with a 6 spd was the Sierra Denali.

Re: Meet Your 2009 Chevrolet Truck Lineup

Thanks for clearing things up for me on the 6-speed Silverados, guys. I guess if I get new (or used in the future) it would be '09-onward. I really liked the desert brown, though, and apparently that is cancelled beyond '08...but, oh well, it's just a color.

at this time, a truck is a truck, but the difference will be in the incentives as the only 6 speed 1500's are 2009.

i agree with you, the old materials of cloth in the avalanche, tahoe, sub, colorado, and cobalts all suck. here's to hoping they come up with better materials this year.

Re: Meet Your 2009 Chevrolet Truck Lineup

I can't believe the gripes people have about interiors.
I have a TB, the interior is fine. I use to have a '92 S10
and the interior in that truck was just fine, too. Chill.

Re: Meet Your 2009 Chevrolet Truck Lineup

Looks like the 09 suburban will have a six speed standard, but no 6.2L flex fuel like the denali and escalade. I'm curious about the acceleration characteristics of the 5.3L with the 6 speed. I hope they remove the torque management software, but if not I'm sure that my superchips programmer can take care of that. I'm guessing no one on this forum has had a chance to drive a 5.3L with a 6 speed auto.

Did anyone notice that the Trailblazer's stereo still houses a cassette deck?
