As long as it isn't a Jeep Compass I'd like to see that.

Good. It's a roadhog and a breathable air hog.

Seriously, I don't know why so many people don't care about the environment, the air we breathe, or their kids' air...not to mention our foreign oil addiction.

Hummer can still be a good Jeep-like brand without offering the H2.

Well that's good 'cuz the H2 only holds 6 people. I think GM killed it due to image.

True, but those Prius owners drove further than the H2 owners did on the same amount of fuel.

I guess there will be no GMT-900 version.

Will it still get the 4.5L V8?

Re: Jalopnik: GM Killing Hummer H2 After 2011

I am not a fan of the H2, but how can you have Hummer with out the H1 or H2. Granted most people have no need for the H1 or H2, but you could say that about a lot of cars and trucks that people buy and drive to work everyday.

I just think they should make the H2 or H1 a low low volume vehicle just to make the Hummer line up feel like a military style brand and not a cheap trick brand.

Re: Jalopnik: GM Killing Hummer H2 After 2011

so now a very limited brand becomes even more limited.... that sucks. the H2 is an awesome truck with lots of capability off road and, like Hummer's tagline, it truly is Like Nothing Else. with the new interior it's as nice inside as any Escalade, and with its new powertrain it's just as capable on road as it is off. it's a shame that they've finally got it right and it's going to be phased out now in a few years. i think it's ridiculous for the government to basically dictate the cars we buy. let the buying publice decide if they want to spend $5 a gallon on gas for a gas guzzler. just another example of how this nation is run by the government rather than the government being run by the nation.

Re: Jalopnik: GM Killing Hummer H2 After 2011

The Hummer brand days are numbered. The idea that GM needs Jeep competitor is silly especially when GM needs to focus on other more important segments and competitors.

GM doesn't have to have a whole brand for every niche. Toyota created the FJ so give Chevy a Wranglar type of vehicle and call it a day.

Re: Jalopnik: GM Killing Hummer H2 After 2011

I'm not a fan of the H2, but why can't GM just limit it to 5000 or so per year? It would barely have any effect on CAFE at that point. Would it just be too expensive to keep it around at that volume?

Re: Jalopnik: GM Killing Hummer H2 After 2011

Forget the hype, the spin, the politics...the H2 isn't selling. And the H2 is not the only current GM vehicle that will be cut.

There is nothing preventing a much better H2 package in the future - do you want a Catera or a CTS?

I never really understood how the H2 got significantly worse mileage than a similarly equipped Escalade or Tahoe.

OK, I'm probably going to be executed on this site, but I'd love one of these Kodiaks to pull the 2008 Jayco Jayflight G2 31BHDS camper I just bought... (yes, overkill, but cool IMO!

Realistically though, I'd be very happy if I simply had the Duramax in my current 2500HD, which I get dirty looks from Prius drivers anyway.

For the record, I only drive my truck about 5000 miles per year, so I probably use less gas than the average American...Yet I still get looked down upon for driving a "gas guzzler".... Perhaps people should know ALL the facts before crusifying others for their vehicle need/choice.
