It's probably got sand in places it didn't even know about.

Re: Hummer tries to get the H3 stuck!

I went to the Orange county auto show and the H3 fit and finish of the H3 made the Jeep look like cheap toy. I was a jeep lover many years ago, but the Hummer line up changed all of that. The Hummer is just better built.

Thats pretty killer. Were those just enthusiasts, or where these GM engineers? And thats just a standard 3.5/3.7 H3? Wow.

Jeep people do not give a **** about fit and finish.

I'm looking at the Jeeps at the auto show and they just all screamed CHEAP! Tthe plastic made them look cheap and the lack of a solid feel when you close the door. I was really unimpressed. If I was looking for a 4X4 it would be an H# Alpha hands down.

And you just noticed that. It's obvious. It's made by the one and only Chrysler. The automaker famous for putting cheap plastic kingdom interiors in their cars and trucks. By the way, Mercedes is not included. The Hummer H3/Alpha beats any Jeep exterior, interior and overall design hands down. The same goes for off-roading in my opinion.

Good Call! They're a blast to off-road - this was an Alpha/Off-road package:

The crawl ratio is almost TOO low on the Alphas - you'll engine brake down a hill at 1mph when you're down in first gear - I normally have to pop it up to 2nd just to coast at a decent speed. But, I won't complain about that ratio when I'm heading over some rocks!

Yeah but it comes in handy when dealing with those pesky Rubicons.

Yeah well, I'm sure GM made the crawl ratio a bit low on the Hummer H3 for a reason and that must be for what LAPTOP GAMER stated. "Those Pesky Rubicon trails". The Hummer H3 is no doubt if not the best one of the best off-roading vehicles on the market. And the H3 Alpha V8 further adds to the off-roading capability of the H3.

I wouldn't quite say game over for Jeep as they still have a solid front axle on the Wrangler at least. They have really ruined the Grand Cherokee and Liberty(old cherokee) by going IFS with less ground clearance. This is where the H3 shines, it has IFS but very high clearance. I would like to see a ramp test done on a Rubicon Jeep against an H3. If I am not mistaken the H3 has approach/departure angles that are at least what the Rubicon's are. I need to look that up.
My question is why does a huge company like GM only have two off road capable vehicles?(H2, H3) They build the pickup trucks lower and lower every year. Does GM even bother to test their "Z-71" trucks off road anymore? It seems like they are totally unconcerned with us truck guys who still take our trucks off pavement. I traded my Sierra for a Nissan Titan because of this reason. It seems that they only care about gas mileage. I don't need anything radical but more than 10 inches of clearance with some halfway decent approach/departure angles would bring me back. Does anyone know if GM will ever build an off road based pickup again?
