Re: Hummer tries to get the H3 stuck!
It's probably got sand in places it didn't even know about.

Re: Hummer tries to get the H3 stuck!
I went to the Orange county auto show and the H3 fit and finish of the H3 made the Jeep look like cheap toy. I was a jeep lover many years ago, but the Hummer line up changed all of that. The Hummer is just better built. |

Re: Hummer tries to get the H3 stuck!
Thats pretty killer. Were those just enthusiasts, or where these GM engineers? And thats just a standard 3.5/3.7 H3? Wow.

Re: Hummer tries to get the H3 stuck!
I'm looking at the Jeeps at the auto show and they just all screamed CHEAP! Tthe plastic made them look cheap and the lack of a solid feel when you close the door. I was really unimpressed. If I was looking for a 4X4 it would be an H# Alpha hands down. ![]() |

![]() The crawl ratio is almost TOO low on the Alphas - you'll engine brake down a hill at 1mph when you're down in first gear - I normally have to pop it up to 2nd just to coast at a decent speed. But, I won't complain about that ratio when I'm heading over some rocks!

My question is why does a huge company like GM only have two off road capable vehicles?(H2, H3) They build the pickup trucks lower and lower every year. Does GM even bother to test their "Z-71" trucks off road anymore? It seems like they are totally unconcerned with us truck guys who still take our trucks off pavement. I traded my Sierra for a Nissan Titan because of this reason. It seems that they only care about gas mileage. I don't need anything radical but more than 10 inches of clearance with some halfway decent approach/departure angles would bring me back. Does anyone know if GM will ever build an off road based pickup again? ![]() |
