Re: Hummer HX Concept

If this is all they have they must be dragging thier feet on getting it done. Should be interesting to see how GM plays the Hummer line...

Re: Hummer HX Concept

That would be awesome.. If they would make a 4-door version in the mid-20K range I would definitely be interested!!!!

Since you've driven both an '08 Liberty and an H3 Alpha off-road, tell us why you think the Jeep is superior.

I too have felt that GM needs a good competitor to the wrangler. I really like the idea, we'll just see how they do in the execution.

Re: Hummer HX Concept

Ever since learning the H3t will be a regular H3 with a bed slapped on the end, SUT style I have been hoping Hummer start working on another project. Hopefully its a little more innovative that the H3t!

I have driven the '08 Liberty and an '07 H3. The Liberty had a better interior, ride, better NHV,and performance. I have not driven an Alpha because none are available .

I think that with the 3.5L the H3 was out-engined by the Jeep. With the 3.7L it was on par, and the 5.3L obviously steps it up above the Jeep. It also has the low range, ground clearance, and approach and departure angles to hold its own against the Jeep. I don't think people give it enough credit.

As for the Jeep, I think the 2008 Liberty looks a lot better than the 2007, and much, much better than the pre-Renegade look, but I couldn't sign up for owning an off-road vehile with that V-6. It's just plain wrong.

What's wrong with the Liberty V-6?

Nothing. But the fact that they killed the 4.0L just pi$$ed me off. The fact that it's a motor from the minivans doesn't help either. If it had the 3.0L CRD from the Grand, that would be even better. That thing is a beast.

Gotcha. Minivans just taint everything, don't they?

I have also driven both and couldn't disagree more.

Of course I don't know what "NHV" is so that might be the deal breaker right there although, since I don't know what it is then I have to wonder how important it is in the overall vehicle selection process.

I think the original poster meant NVH - noise, vibration, and harshness. Because I want my Hummer to ride like a Buick!

To me NHV stands for noise, harmonics and vibration. I agree that the 3.7 V-6 is the Liberty's weak point, however, the rest of the vehicle is really that good. I have yet to read a negative review of the vehicle. The H3 has been hampered all along by the inept 3.5 and 3.7 inline 5s and rough ride. I have no doubt the H3 is the better serious off road vehicle, however, none of my hunting buddies who have Libertys have had any problems on the logging trails we use that are either muddy or snow covered.
