Re: Hummer HX Concept

This is a long shot, but the HUMVEE will be decommissioned soon and if AM General gets the contract for a new one, it will be smaller, more mobile, faster, and more efficient; thus I would guess the HX would follow those footsteps.

Wasn't this supposed to debut at last Detroit Auto show?

Re: Hummer HX Concept

I have not liked the look of a small SUV this much since the days of the Isuzu Vehi-Cross. Yeah, I know this is a concept, but something tells me that there was some major thought put into this.

I think melding Jeep and Hummer would create a durable line of American offroad vehicles. It will be interesting to see this H4.
It would have to be more regional in MN, i see hummers more then FJ, (Cal also has some toyota fascination anyway)and the original hummer died because of its size, its was not easy to drive on the highway at speed, it was very wide on city streets, very unmanueverable in the city while parking and it was military first not civilian and it cost 6 figures and no gas engine doesnt help in many minds.

Sweet, I'm really digging it. It will be Wrangler-size, right?

What is it based off? Theta? GMT355? something else?

Re: Hummer HX Concept

Wow. I thought they'd be further along on an H4.

Anyways, it looks pretty good. A little FJ ish, but much better. It also looks independently sprung front and back.

Re: Hummer HX Concept

It's interesting that the Jeep Wrangler has no direct competition. Chrysler has done a fantastic job in keeping the vehicle true to its original theme while,at the same time, freshening its appearance and engineering. I can't visualize G.M. building any Hummer that would be small and light enough to ever threaten the Wrangler. Even the 2008 Liberty has got the H3 badly beaten.

The thing I notice from this image is the dual shocks...now I know it's just a photoshop picture but thats very intriguing to me since I would love to have this sort of vehicle for some off road fun.

Re: Hummer HX Concept

I've really wanted GM to build a true wrangler competitor. It needs a small hummer that is a true offroad machine to bolster its "go anywhere" image since the H1 was dropped. Plus, a lower priced vehicle would be unique in the lineup and would bring more sales to GM.

At one time, I would have been very interested in such a vehicle, but fuel economy has become increasingly important to me. Thus, I don't think this is something that I, personally, would buy. I do like it though -- I hope the real thing isn't quite as over-the-top as the sketches, but it's a nice design.

I hope GM offers the small diesel as an option.

Re: Hummer HX Concept

If it truly has a removable roof or roof panel, then this would almost be a replacement for the old K-5 Blazers...

Re: Hummer HX Concept

Why not wait for Cerberus to complete its dismembering of Chrysler and just buy Jeep from them. Reuniting Jeep and the AM-General/Hummer brand needs to be done.

Re: Hummer HX Concept

Those sketches look great.

I hope GM uses the opportunity to one-up the Wrangler with an optional V8 or diesel engine. Especially for the higher prices HUMMERs go for.

I'm not holding my breath though.

I for one actually think they re probabaly quite far along in H4 development. I really expect to see a highly production ready concept model to debut in the upcoming 2008 auto shows. I may be wrong but I can't believe that all the rumors we've been hearing for the past 3 years have only been about these 3 concept drawings.
