HUMMER H3 Alpha and H3 first stock class vehicles to finish Baja

DETROIT – Team HUMMER once again demonstrated the inherent off-road capability of the HUMMER H3 as Rod, Josh and Chad Hall piloted their stock class H3 Alpha and H3 nearly 1,300 miles to become the first stock class vehicles to finish the 2007 SCORE International Baja 1000.
The 2007 Baja 1000 marked the 40th anniversary of the grueling off-road race and covered 1,296.39 miles from Ensenada in Baja California to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Baja California Sur. It ran from November 13-15, 2007.
Team HUMMER races in the SCORE International full and mini stock classes which feature production-based vehicles with stock frames, stock suspension designs and production-based engines. With 18 entries, the 2007 race boasted the most stock class vehicles in the history of the 1000 and included models from seven different automakers.

Re: HUMMER H3 Alpha and H3 first stock class vehicles to finish Baja

Why, if I applied everything that I have learned at GMI, I would know that this is impossible. It is physically impossible.

Geez, give it three grains of Australian sand and the H3 will self-destruct.
Read the latest TTAC review, and BTW they can't even get the horsepower right, and you would know that the H3 is designed to fall apart 5 minutes after it leaves the factory.

I mean, the headline didn't even say whether or not the seventy-three tanker trucks needed to refuel the H3 every fifty miles made it through the race.
Or if GM resorted to llamas to get those millions and millions of gallons of gasoline in the right place at the right time.

And do you think we'll be seeing a best-selling biography - "The llama Corps - How we delivered the gas in Baja!" ??????

(Congratulations H3 - You rock!)

Here is what I found:
Quote:
1. Chad Hall/Rod Hall/Sam Edgar/Josh Hall, Reno, Nev., Hummer H3, 36:27:25 (35.56mph); 2. John Griffin, Mission Viejo, Calif./Jeremy Spirkoff, El Cajon, Calif./Mike Sabbarese, Huntington Beach, Calif., Ford F-350, 42:37:00; 3. Terry Henn/Eric Henn/John Herman, Walnut, Calif., Hummer H1, 46:22:45; 4. Kevin Ostlund/Robyn Wourms, Canada, Dodge Ram2500, 48:57:10; 5. Clyde Stacy, Bristol, Va./Justin Matney/Sam Blankenship, Bristol, Tenn., William Aylor, Union, Ky./Shane Roberts, Bristol, Tenn., Dodge Ram2500, 52:33:14 (11 Starters, 5 Finishers)
So 7 automakers competed and 3 finished.

Always a bonus to assume there's a fleet of tankers parked behind every 2nd dune but the point remains how many mid-desert refuels did those supposedly 'stock' H3s require in 1,300 miles, as compared to the llamas? Or Landcruisers?

Wow, did you ever bite on Plane's post!

What is your motivation for proposing that the H3s might have been modified and therefore cheated?

Will a llama carry two people for 1300 miles without a drink?

Why did you mention the Landcruisers? I didn't see them in the top finishers list.

What a lame post...

Doesn't llama gas contribute to global warming?
