HUMMER Establishes First Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program

Dealers look to build off the success of GM's Certified Pre-Owned Program

DETROIT- For the first time in HUMMER’s history, buyers will have the opportunity to purchase HUMMER Certified Pre-Owned vehicles, the new program will offer the same premium commitment to quality and service as a new vehicle but with a lower price tag.

The Certified Pre-Owned program, a HUMMER first, was initiated as a result of consistent sales success with the GM Certified brand and demand for previously owned HUMMER vehicles. These vehicles will be available in dealer showrooms this month and will serve as an extension to the HUMMER brand and current lineup.

For a previously owned HUMMER to become a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle it is tested to meet HUMMER’s stringent standards and undergoes a rigorous 100+ point inspection. In addition, vehicles must be less than 48 months old, driven fewer than 50,000 miles (2006 models) with no serious accidents or body repairs (costs exceeding one-quarter of the automobile’s market value at the time of repair).

“Certified Pre-Owned HUMMER vehicles offer buyers the opportunity to get all the iconic styling and off-road prowess of a HUMMER at a price that better fits their budget,” said Susan Docherty, HUMMER general manager. “These vehicles provide consumers with the confidence of a new vehicle with the affordability of one previously owned.”

Other Highlights of the HUMMER Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle program include the HUMMER New Vehicle Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty, extended from 4 years/50,000 miles (2006 models) or 3 years/36,000 miles (2005 and prior models), (whichever comes first) to 6 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first) with no reduction in coverage – HUMMER Owner Privileges still apply (Trip Interruption Protection, No-charge Emergency Road Service and 24-Hour Customer Assistance Hotline).

WOW!!!! Everyone must like this idea. I know I haven't posted a great deal, but there is usually a ton of negative feedback on any HUMMER article. This program is just like Cadillac's and that program has performed great.

Good job GM.

This is great. They needed to have a premium CUV program.

Re: HUMMER Establishes First Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program

They need to give H2 a real redesign, more articulating suspension, probably similar to H1 and a new Interior, and exterior redesign. Something along the upscale touches of a G wagen.
New engines and transmissions… Diesel and RHD for Europe Africa, australia India and Japan..
Hummer, like nothing else

Re: HUMMER Establishes First Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program

GMs certified pre-owned programs seem to have been doing good. This only makes sense.

H2 is getting extremely long in the tooth...especially a base model stock. Hopefully its not TOO far around the bend.

Wish GM's regular CPO program extended warantees to 6 years instead of the measily 3 months they give you. This is a logical move, luxury CPO programs help preserve brand image and resale values.

Re: HUMMER Establishes First Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program

Pretty sad that you have to buy a used Hummer to get a better warranty.

Re: HUMMER Establishes First Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program

HUMMER should really start to plan for the future. After the Military chooses a new vehicle to replace the HUMMER, how cool is it going to be to the American public? HUMMER needs to stop relying on it as just being a HUMMER, and start being the best off roaders the industry makes.

Sure sounds good. But does anyone know if these certifications really mean anything beyond slapping a sticker on the windshield?

They extend the warranty from the time of original purchase. It encourages confidence in the cars you sell. If you buy a 2 year old car that has a 3 year warranty, you only have 1 year left. Extending the warranty brings buyers in. Who would buy a used car without a warranty anymore? Besides, all the imports do it.

You mean like Jeep?

I thought they pretty much were. They certainly sell it as such. Thought I admit I can't think of any car mag that has done a comparo between a HUMMER, Jeep, and Land Rover.
