Re: Hot Silverado 427 SS Concept May be Built

Holy SMOKES, that's one gorgeous truck! I don't usually like the street trucks and this one makes me giggle (a good thing ... and it's a very masculine psycho-giggle)!

Of course, I wouldn't be able to afford one of these in a gazillion years and I wouldn't want to pay for the gas. But it sure looks good!

And, in most of the side-by-side shots, I like the new GMC better than the new Chevy. This wouldn't look right as the GMC.

Re: Hot Silverado 427 SS Concept May be Built

I really hope they build this truck! If they do I hope they keep it very close to the concept like they did with the TB SS. We love our TB SS and I will ad this truck to our stable if GM build's it!

Re: Hot Silverado 427 SS Concept May be Built

Does anyone know why the Joe Gibbs trucks and T-hoe's stopped getting the superchargers in them during the last year of production? Warranty concerns?

The engine choices should be on a order only basis , if i want an 8100 with the 6 speed manual give it to me. So limit the warranty to 3 year 36000 other than the trans and rear end. The LS7 is way to much money , if i want to spend 50 i will buy a Z06 for 10k more and have something fast .

The SS should be a Toy , like the 454SS from the 90's. The high power engines in regular trucks should just be options, not an SS. The SS should be a short box reg cab 2 wheel drive only. Like a Shelby Cobra from the 60's , lots of power very little weight.

A modern day COPO program would be shot down by all the cry babies !

If i was in charge there would be COOL stuff for every one , and the CAFE could suck me off!
You are right on the money this is just what tne general needs to do. But the

Hot Silverado may be built
Pickup concept sports 7.0 L V8
Nov. 4, 2006. 01:00 AM
GERRY MALLOY
The Toronto Star

General Motors' rethought full-size pickups haven't hit the market yet, but the company is already teasing prospective buyers with the possibilities.

Among the customized trucks that the auto giant displayed at this week's annual SEMA show in Las Vegas is the Chevrolet Silverado 427 concept truck, packing a 427-cubic-inch V8.

In Chevy lore, 427 is a magic number, being the cubic-inch equivalent of 7.0 litres.

The 427 V8 forged the bow-tie brand's performance image on tracks in the '60s and powered ground-pounding McLarens and Lolas on the CanAm circuit.

The current Corvette Z06 has a 427 V8.

Don't rule out the Silverado 427 going into production.

It would be great to build them with just small block V8. This is a great looking truck.

What's up,
I just want to say that truck is awesome and GM would be dumb not to put this truck into production ya know!! Finally they are understanding what people want that like high performance!! I know one thing if it comes out I'll be the first one at GM dealership!!

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Hot Silverado 427 SS Concept May be Built

That is one cool concept truck. If they do make another SS Silverado, I hope they give it some balls and make it a lot faster than the SRT Ram and Lightning. The previous SS trucks were crap. My neighbor had one and he traded it in for a SRT Ram after only 4 months of ownership.

I dont like 4 door or exteneded cab pickups. now I have no problem with the offering it in all 3 configurations and with a manual and an auto, theres a idea options, dont just throw a truck at me say choose the color and you get what you get, theres the silvarado ss again and the SRT-10.. a few issues though. the motor, its great, but get rid of it. you want the z06 motor, be ready to pay z06 money for it. that truck sitting there if it came out just the way it is is probally about 50k. I cant think of a lot of other cars i can spend 50k on before this truck. tone it down a bit, throw in a supercharged ls2 or whatever they have at the time. it will be much cheaper than putting the handbuilt ls7 in it. anyone wonder why the SRT-10 never sold??? it was too expensive. if youre looking for somethingin the price range in a truck youre looking at a diesel. find a cheaper motor, make it 427 if you want, offer it in reg and extended and keep it under 35k, you will have a winner. dosnt anybody remember the lightning, they must follow that formula and you can lose.

all that said it will probally end up being extended cab auto only with a weak 6.2 and nice wheels and the body kit for way too much money, they already tried that it didnt work.
the 6.2 Vortec is anything but weak, and yes I remember the Ford Lightning, it was a 375hp 5.4l with auto tranny! You said we need to follow the "Lightning formula" wich was 375HP(28hp less than a 6.2) and it was a auto tranny(which you repetedly said NO to). Which is it? U need to keep facts straight. Why would you want a LS2 S/C, the only LS2 S/C on the market costs upwards of $7000, plus $5500 for a LS2, after all that you would have the price of a LS7, but the LS7 will get superior mileage due to being N/A, Plus it revs 7000rpm's who dosent love that. And as for no AWD, it needs to be an option, Some of us get snow in the winter, and I cant afford to pay $40+k for a truck I can't drive all year round. I think they need to follow the SRT-10 plan, regular cab/short bed, with manual tranny and then a crew cab/short bed with auto tranny & AWD option. I know plenty of guys around my area that bought Silverado SS's over SRT-10's just so they could drive them year round, sure they wernt as fast but hey, you gotta give a little to get a little. but thats IMO
