Hot Silverado 427 SS Concept May be Built
Filing this in the rumors or wishful thinking section may be appropriate (I'll admit I haven't been following truck developments, maybe some insiders here know if its a "go"), since the article really doesn't back up the title, but wouldn't it be sweet...? Still, if the past is any indicator, you can forget about the SS 427 being nearly so close to the ground. Compromise is a favorite word at those corporate board meetings. I fully expect the truck would be tall enough to crawl around under. - Ming
Hot Silverado may be built Pickup concept sports 7.0 L V8 Nov. 4, 2006. 01:00 AM GERRY MALLOY The Toronto Star General Motors' rethought full-size pickups haven't hit the market yet, but the company is already teasing prospective buyers with the possibilities. Among the customized trucks that the auto giant displayed at this week's annual SEMA show in Las Vegas is the Chevrolet Silverado 427 concept truck, packing a 427-cubic-inch V8. In Chevy lore, 427 is a magic number, being the cubic-inch equivalent of 7.0 litres. The 427 V8 forged the bow-tie brand's performance image on tracks in the '60s and powered ground-pounding McLarens and Lolas on the CanAm circuit. The current Corvette Z06 has a 427 V8. Don't rule out the Silverado 427 going into production. SOURCE ![]()

This would be a nice addition. I like how Dodge gave the SRT four doors later in the years which is more practical, four doors ont the 427 would make me want it more.

Re: Hot Silverado 427 SS Concept May be Built
A relatively clean, simple exterior that enhances a generally good original design.
And using the 7.0 L V-8 is yet another application of the engine that most likely justifies the development costs of the 7.0L. In fact, apply the engine to several other vehicles (CTS/C, Escalade line, SRX(?), STS(?)...) and you make the dollars spent on the engine seem even more like money well spent. And, you get a kick-ass group of vehicles! Makes perfect sense to me. |

I would want the 4 Door Version, wouldnt have any need for a single cab truck.

Re: Hot Silverado 427 SS Concept May be Built
If GM is really serious about the performance of this "rumored" sport truck, ride height should remain as low as possible with the disclaimer saying that it is not meant for tow/hauling duties...like the Grand Cherokee SRT8.
And even a 4-dr edition would be good. I've been seeing more TB-SS and they've got their families on board and nobody seems upset about it. There should be many options to suit the diverse preferences of so many customers. |

In the past I had a Sonoma with the ZQ8 package, and a late 90's S10 Sportside SS. A larger, more comfortable, full size version would have been nice, but I just don't like the way crew cab and extended cab trucks look. |
