H3T Production Has Begun

H3T Production Has Begun
Production of the last GM-developed Hummer?
www.gminsidenews.com
By: Nsap

Sliding down the assembly line today, for the first time, was the all-new 2009 Hummer H3T midsize truck. The H3T is being produced at the Shreveport, Louisiana assembly plant where its brother the H3 SUV is built. Shreveport also produces the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize trucks. The H3T is based off of a combination of the Colorado/Canyon and H3 SUV. It is avialable only in crew cab and contains a more "normal" sized truck bed. The same engines avaliable in the H3 SUV are avaliable in the H3T; the 3.7L Inline-5 and 5.3L V8. With news reports suggesting that the sale of the Hummber brand by General Motors could be complete in early 2009, it may be safe to say this is the last GM-owned new Hummer product to start assembly.

Obviously you can expect to see the H3T at dealerships starting in 2-3 weeks.

Re: H3T Production Has Begun

Looks like it will be the most useful vehicle Hummer has produced. Everytime someone utters the brand of Hummer, my wife immediately chimes in with "Why did they build a truck with the storage space of a Ford Focus?"

Re: H3T Production Has Begun

Looks to be a fully loaded model(s) with bed liner and cargo handling system.
That plant is starting to show it's age I see. The management definitely doesn't want to spend the money for keeping it looking and "feeling" pristine like the Fairfax plant is.
I was down there in 1991, and it looks alot more "used" than it did then. Some of that goes with the type and age of product being built there too.

Nice truck. Fingers crossed it will be GMs last. Hummer needs to go.

Who cares about $4 gas, if you want it buy it. It's not going to be that bad on gas anyway.

It would be even better with a diesel. Imagine 18/23 mpg or so.

Such a great vehicle, but sadly it won't be a GM vehicle for long.

The bed is kind of cool without all of the plastic, haha. But wonderful car for the current fuel prices and economy we're having here in the States! Great move!

Wait.. They just started building this? What took them so long? Like everyone else said, not that it matters anyway. Hopefully GM will get a good buck off the sale.

Re: H3T Production Has Begun

When we sell off Hummer, can we at least keep this? It'd make a nice Canyon replacement...

If only I had a need for a truck like that. Very nice indeed.
