GMI Exclusive: Chevrolet Equinox SS Spy Shots

GMI Exclusive: Chevrolet Equinox SS Spy Shots

Of course CHEVYPAS has sent GMI these shots to us. We are not 100% sure of what this test mule is of, but my guess is that they are testing either a new Equinox powertrain or a hybrid version of it.

NOTE: New steering-wheel design as well as all new switchgear on the center-stack!

Thanks to GMI Member CHEVYPAS for sending us these images.

Re: GMI Exclusive: Chevrolet Equinox Spy Shots

I assume a hybrid Equinox would be easy to do. Since the Vue has a hybrid version and they share platforms it would only make sense but a new engine would also be nice. Thanks CHEVYPAS for the pics.

Wow. I bet the extension cord manufacturers are salivating at this prospect.

If GM hits the hybrid train, watch out.
Consumers will flock to safe, reliable, stylish, economical, environmentally friendly vehicles.
That's exactly what the Vue Greenline (and maybe the new Nox) provide.
Go GM!

Re: GMI Exclusive: Chevrolet Equinox Spy Shots

Those exhaust pipes are pretty rusty. Maybe it's just the extreme cold, I am not used to seeing that.

yeah, maybe, but have people been "flocking" to the Hybrid Escape? i think the hybrid craze is/was all about an image, and early on people chose the Prius as the posterboy. now it seems that the hybrids are being brought back to earth a bit with real numbers becoming available that show hybrid fuel economy isn't really the stratospheric numbers (near 60mpg? come on now...) we saw before, but really closer to 35-45 mpg. that type of fuel economy can be achieved with less complicated technology like direct injection diesel engines. VW's been offering the TDI engine for years now and it provides real world fuel economy near 45-50 mpg without heavy and expensive batteries. i was once on the hybrid bandwagon, and i do think it will improve and become a much better option in the future, but i don't think it's going to be the only option. i'd like to see GM use Isuzu to design diesels for everything from the Aveo to the Uplander. if they work to make cleaner diesels and make everything flex-fuel then the hybrid technology would be much more effective. imagine combining the 50 mpg diesel with a hybrid powertrain. now that would be serious fuel economy. hybrid technology alone isn't going to make a huge impact.

True, but GM's hybrids were designed to be cheaper than say, Toyota's, while have about the same fuel economy.

I think we're in violent agreement here!
