i could see this as a saturn minivan(how is popmech sure this is GMC product?), but if this is the "actual" sheetmetal, there is no way this would be OK as a GMC.

the styling doesn't fit the brand at all.

Re: GMC Minivan Spy Shot in Popular Mechanics Magazine

Its really foolish of GM to kill the TB.
Especially When Chevy is a global brand rivalling Toyota and Nissan.

Another Thing. Buick has a US Minivan. Buick has a Chinese Minivan. GMC has no minivan

why the heck does GMC get a minivan a Buick does not?
Or is China soo far from the US that Selling the same minivan in both China and US for Buick would not make Sense?

Who makes these Decesions at GM Detroit? There is a lot of short term, local thinking at GM that needs to go.

I would give Chevy a minivan to sell in all markets, and Buick would get its upscale version, and it would sell in all markets.

Meriva is even smaller than the Zafira. Opel used to have the Sintra, which was the same as the old Venture and Montana, but it's been canned, and I'm not sure if they're working on a replacement or not. I really think this spy pic is of a very large van, and that there's a good chance it's an Uplander replacement.

How about without camoflage (sort of)?:

Ok, it's not a masterpiece, but I think the real thing (sans samo) will much better than my insomniac photoshopping anyway.

Bummer....I'd read they were supposed to "look like spaceships"....this looks like an ungainly Montana/Matrix hybrid.

I agree man, I love our Envoy and wouldn't trade for a crossover. Something about FWD just make me kinda, ehh. Maybe it's a hold over from my big wheel, idk.

WOW if that photo doesn’t scream “GMC shouldn’t be building a minivan” I don’t know what does. Seriously how can anyone here honestly say “a minivan won’t hurt GMC’s image” after seeing that.

Well you have time to get another Envoy GM isn’t going to stop production until 2010. And if you want a real truck after that there is the crew cab Canyon.

Hmmm... interesting idea. I wonder if they could turn the next Canyon into more of an Avalanche-type vehicle with a midgate, but with an add-on (optional) rear end cover to turn it from a truck into an SUV. Kinda like the old Nissan Pulsar had an angled rear window or small wagon-type hatch. They could cover two dwindling markets with one vehicle. I guess it's just a variation on the Envoy XUV, but one that's more of a truck when it wants to be.

Hopefully someone at GM realizes they can do the same thing they did with the Sonoma/Jimmy with the Canyon.

Spaceships would be scarier than ungainly .... the "dustbuster specials" of 1989 (Lumina APV, Silhouette, Trans Sport) were dubbed the spaceships ... way out and future-like. Which turned out to be a trip much further away from home than most prospective minivan buyers were willing to take.

Re: GMC Minivan Spy Shot in Popular Mechanics Magazine

Meheh.
GMC doesn't need a minivan. They've got the Acadia, that should be enough. And FWD doesn't seem 'Professional Grade' to me, and if the minivan isn't going to be AWD at all, they should just drop the GMC badge then and there. And besides, the car to 'replace' the Envoy would be Pontiac's Torrent, if it gets moved to GMC as the rumors state.

The two receivers of the van? Chevrolet and Saturn, easy. Uplander handles the beef competition, such as Toyota, Kia, and Dodge, while Saturn's Relay handles Chrysler, Hyundai, and Honda. As much as the Outlook is a family hauler, it's not 'soccer-mom-friendly'.

EDIT: Is it just me, or in the spy shot it looks like the gauges are on the CENTER STACK?
