You've never tried to convince a mom to buy a vehicle without SLIDING SIDE DOORS, I'll wager.

Carrying groceries and a kid, having that auto sliding door makes or breaks a purchase. Many people will not even consider the Lambda crossovers because they lack that feature. Besides, the long snout of most crossovers and "SUVs" make the vehicles less utlitarian, and the only reason is to present the "tough" image of truck based SUVs, and perhaps to get a little more dash or leg room.

Minivans are here to stay. Question is, will GM and Ford just surrender that market to the Japanese.

Actually they would be two of the best, not one of the best, since you named two.

I disagree though, as much as I like the Trailblazer SS, I don't think there is much about it that's best on the market, other than its standard Atlas I6.

Would it ever!
This is glorious!
I thought these minivans were only on paper.
Something's afoot at GM!

I love the shape.
I only hope the technology is revolutionary and that it is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition.

I just hope the front looks more something like this (below), because I HATE the Quest's front end look:

I agree, I NEVER thought my mom would get a minivan after having a few jimmy's. Then we got a SWB Montana minivan. I was not happy, (but we bought a 2002 White. Vert. Trans Am with the minivan lease) so it wasn't all that bad. But yes, Mom's need sliding doors, versatility etc. DONT GIVE UP ANY SEGMENTS GM! AND FIX THE COLORADO!!!

Wow the styling is quite dramatic. It honestly looks like some kind of Japanese van. Hard to tell if I like it or not at this point though.

The GMC Minivan sort of looks like a supersized meriva (emphasis on "sort of"):

I'm not so sure how I feel about a minivan for GMC. I think it'd be nice for Chevrolet to have a class-leading minivan before GMC does. And I do hope that the final looks, minivan necessities (power doors; folding seats/cargo storage management system; and the fun interior, child-friendly accoutrements), and the powertrain are all in order.
GMC fits the bill more than any other division. and it used to have the Safari.

once they do the Colorado there is nothing to be done..

by 08 Malibu will be new, now the vans, we have the trucks, the cobalt will be refreshed, soon the Camaro/Impala/MC or Chevelle--

--it will be set!

Re: GMC Minivan Spy Shot in Popular Mechanics Magazine

The flexibility evidenced by Lambda is quite amazing. You won't be able to tell that they're on the same platform, and that's great! Only the Outlook and Acadia look too similar for my liking, but this van and the crossovers look totally different.

Except for the "marketing" bit. GM sucks at it, and they need to learn how to do it.

I don't care what it looks like. What GM did or lack there of with the current mini-vans is a joke. You can't lease and they make it hard to even sell them.

More evidence to bolster Lutz's claim that there's just too much for GM to show at NAIAS. The autoshow circuit is going to be awesome this year for GM.

Re: GMC Minivan Spy Shot in Popular Mechanics Magazine

Lets rephrase that the GMT360 is one of the best Midsize SUV's on a frame for the price on the market.

Also Moraine Assembly is only scheduled to build 178,000 next year. That means Moraine Assembly is scheduled 8 lay off weeks, With the first one being the week of January 8th.

The interior pic of the Trailblazer does look like crap. I hate light colored interiors anyways (makes the radio look out of place) Look at the full Charcol interiors with the brush aluminum on the shifter is a nice touch. That is the interior that I have with my '06 Trailblazer

We are having an Executive comming to the plant and I am in the Diaganol Slice meeting with him. One of the questions I am going to ask is what is the future of the GMT360 when it relates to the Lambda CUV's.

Right now after the GMT360 I only see making the Overflow of Lambda CUV's and or overflow of the Zeta at Moraine Assembly.
