It wouldn't look bad if the hood wasn't so steep. Somthing more like that drawing would be nice though.

It isn’t built to look good it’s built to be aerodynamic.

So what gives? Is this spy shot irrelevant now that GM's minivan plans have been killed?

Then what is it? You said CMC, but all I’ve been able to find about CMC is they make aftermarket parts not whole vehicles.

That doesn’t make sense why would GM let another company use they’re test track?

From what I can see, that's a nice looking van. If it has a competitive interior, it'll be a real contender. GM really is doing thing's right. It's 08 and 08 products are where you will really start to see the changes, so I'm expecting a lot.

Re: GMC Minivan Spy Shot in Popular Mechanics Magazine

They are allowed on the test track because the company that currently has it used to belong to GM. The van looks alright, but if you want cargo room you have to fold down the really thin third row, and it is REALLY heavy. The manufacturing and stiffening techniques look like they are from the early nineties, but the engine is a 4-cyl turbo. The interior had the electronics, but it was kinda spartan.

I found this article that was interesting regarding a possible GM joint venture with Nissan for building a minivan....

I don't believe this is a GMC minivan either. A. GMC is not the brand to give a minivan to, B. GM wouldn't anounce "minivans are dead" if it were secretly developing another minivan. Like every American company GM is probably teaching the Chinese how to build cars so in the future when GM goes under from all the Chinese imports the engineers will still be able to get jobs.

This is an old thread.

New GM Minivan news went something like this.

1. SV6 is canceled in the US (but not Canada where it sells well), GM states Pontiac will NOT get another Minivan
2. Relay is scheduled to be canceled in the US
3. Word leaks that Chevy will get a Lambda based Mini-van
4. Rumor is Saturn may get the Zafria imported from Europe, GM doesn't comment.
5. GM unofficially "announces" that GMC will get a Minivan instead of Pontiac (mostly a response to Canadian Dealers who sell a lot of SV6's)
6. General Consensus is that Saturn is not going to get a Zafria cost and size are sighted by people as possible reasons.
7. GM unofficially "announces" it is getting out of the Minivan business

That's basically it.

According to MT's 2008 Future Vehicle Forecast, this 'concept' to them, is a 'sport wagon'.......

2008 GMC Sport Wagon: All-new sport wagon derived from the Lambda architecture.
