Re: Good bye Uplander !!
Oh, love the Vibe-like arcing roofline and side windows. I see some potential in the overall shape. I love reading that they'll keep it to 2 versions, Chev and GMC. Makes sense to me. Hopefully they're huge, which would give them a reason to exist alongside the Acadia and Outlook. I really hope Chev doesn't get an Outlook... they'll be fine with an Equinox and this van.

Re: Good bye Uplander !!
Due late '07 as an '08? I thought talk here was that these new vans would only show up at the end of the decade.
I can't tell much from the picture above (too much camo), but I'm not too sure about the sloping rear roofline. One of the joys of having a mini-van (ok guys, no smart-a$$ comments please) is being able to load tall objects right to the back. That roofline may impede that ability, however only slightly. BTW, where did you find that picture? I can't believe that it turned up first in a magazine and not on the internet. |

Re: Good bye Uplander !!
Chevy will more than likely get a Chevy CUV version of the Lambda in late '08 as a '09. Just because it is on the same platform doesn't mean it is going to be a "clone" anymore.

Re: Good bye Uplander !!
It seems quite tall, so maybe they've arched the roofline to ensure theatre-style seating and require the roof to arch to provide the additional required headroom. That still allows for a large storage area in the back.
This also seems quite far along as they're testing it. Maybe it is something due for next fall? That would be a nice surprise. |

Re: GMC Front Drive Minivan Spy Shot in Popular Mechanics Magazine
I like it. Is that any surprise? I love vans. And I love my 2004 GMC Safari, outdated dinosaur that it is.
The best thing about this "tall" looking design is that it would work well with conversions, cargo vans, and all of the duty that the Astro/Safari delivered for so long. It appears more arched than boxy, but that's OK if the interior room is there and the rear opening is wide enough. I also like that its not wedge shaped like a Japanese express train with an unneccessarily long, sloped nose. Minivans today are simply shaped too much like sleek aero cars for them to be of interest to me. Give me a Nissan Elgrand shaped minivan any day over a sloped boat-like Odyssey. No doubt I'll be trading in my Safari for one of these, some day, as long as its as good as I hope it will be. |

I still rather have the Acadia.
But I am still looking at getting the V8 version of the Enclave. ( I know I keep on saying that) |
