Re: Tata wants to buy HUMMER

GM shouldn't even think about it. Sold. Use the cash to build small cars. GM already has high volume, popular, and profitable 4x4s and SUVs in Chervrolet, GMC, and Cadillac. The planned smaller H4 could easily become a GMC Wrangler-killer, or even a (better) replacement Chevrolet Tracker.

Re: Tata wants to buy HUMMER

an idea then I taught is maybe GM could sell Tata in exchange of letting Tata buying a stake of 15% of GM. Tata could invest some cash in GM

GM should keep Hummer and, once their technology allows it, produce an electric one - Can you imagine the PR that would produce.
I see your point, vxl, and I generally agree with it. But for a moment I find myself thinking like a shortsighted Wall Street type: you want to buy Hummer in this market? Are you friggen kidding me?! How much can I get? This almost feels like an April Fools' thread.

Not quite so funny now that GM's market share will dip down so low...and they're trying to get water outta the ship...

Re: Tata wants to buy HUMMER

I say sell it!!! GM needs to streamline!!! GM should consist of CHEVY- SAAB/SATURN - PONTIAC/BUICK- CADDY. Only chevy and Caddy being full lines the others together. Make SAAB/SATURN VW-Audi fighters Saturn v VW, Saab V Audi, it's doable and it would work. Chevy obviously V toyohondasan. Pontiac should be the sport sedan sport coupe half of the buick coin. Buick goes after lexus, let pontiac go after infiniti. Then Caddy can obviously handle BMW/ Mercedes. Just my thoughts I have it all fleshed out but don't wanna right it all if no one is interested lol!!

Re: Tata wants to buy HUMMER

I say sell it. The same folks who designed the HX could design stuff for Chevy or GMC.

Let GM supply Powertrains if TATA wants.

Let's face it folks. America has become a preception country. Having Hummer is just an albatross around GM's neck.

Face it folks, The Coasts now control the automotive world. With all the folks who will not by from Ford or GM simply on the basis they produce some "Global destroying" models ...... The stupidity goes on....

Agreed. This seems like a gift. A great way out of a shrinking segment and you get to streamline off a divisions. GMC's style with the Denali and Tahoe can produce a very distinctive small "Jeep" (Wrangler) or Toyota FJ type vehicle that could be popular. It would also give GMC some identity other then upgraded Chevrolets.

License the use of the grill to Jeep (they filed a lawsuit 2 yrs ago & lost) it's probably worth more than the whole vehicle

Don't know what's funny when they compete nose to nose with Lexus at the top and Honda at the small end of the automotive scale.

I liked their products so well that we bought two.

Re: Tata wants to buy HUMMER

Tata wants to buy HUMMER? Sold.

Doesn't matter the price. Get rid of it while someone is still dillusional enough to think gas prices are ever coming down. Sell! Sell! Sell!

No arguing about image. No advocating for H4s. No lamenting lost opportunities for diesels. Get out now! This is like finding someone will to buy your house at asking price. Let's face it, GM needs to get its CAFE down ASAP, HUMMER sales are falling through the floor, and GM is trying to look green.

Less talky, more selly.

Re: Tata wants to buy HUMMER

Sell it. GM obviously isn't interested in transforming the brand. There are still people who want/need/prefer offroad vehicles like the hummer. Hummer is not the problem, the problem is there not building the vehicles we want! Hummer needs a smaller wrangler sized vehicle, and maybe one smaller than that! Keep the legendary offroad ability. Hummer needs some diesel options and not for a 5 grand premium. Hummer also needs to put its vehicles on a diet. Also put a little R&D into hybrid offroad drives, all electric, etc. The military for one would be very interested in a more fuel efficient vehicle. I see a great opportunity with hummer.

This is so typical GM, boo hoo we can't sell 250,000 vehicles so we don't want it. If hummer sucked so bad and wasn't worth saving than why are the indians so interested?

If GM is unwilling than let tata have it.
