Wuling premieres the Hong Guang

FULL STORY: http://www.motobullet.com/news.php?id=10408General Motors is building this one for Asia, and we likely don’t have a problem with that. The Hong Guang minivan is being produced in China under the Wuling brand, which GM set up with its Chinese partners SAIC and Wuling Motors........The available engines will be a 70 hp 1.2-liter and 100 hp 1.4-liter four-cylinder gas units, which can also be found in GM’s Aveo line. There will be nine different trim levels priced in China from RMB 44,800 (currently about $6,600) to RMB 60,800 ($9,000)......
.......We won’t call the car homely. We can respect function over form, and it is likely the Hong Guang’s styling took a back seat to the engineering that makes this vehicle cheap and hard-working.
The Wuling Hong Guang should also make its way to India (likely wearing a Chevy badge,) but we don’t think this extra-mini minivan will make its way outside of Asia. The Hong Guang’s size would never appeal to Americans, and Europe already has the new Chevy Orlando. However, if Europeans start to decide that the new Orlando is too large and stylish, then GM’s got something new waiting in the wings.
