GM of Canada Announces Pricing for the All-New 2007 GMC Yukon

Oshawa, Ontario (January 31, 2006) – General Motors of Canada today announced that the all-new 2007 GMC Yukon will be offered at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $44,615 on the 2WD model and $48,030 on the 4WD model. The Yukon features an entirely new interior and exterior design and features an all-new chassis as well as Stabilitrak with new proactive roll avoidance technology. The 2007 Yukon will be available at GM dealers across Canada in February 2006, followed by the launch of the Yukon XL and Denali models later this year.

“The all-new 2007 Yukon demonstrates our commitment to giving customers more than they expect in all respects,” said Cathy Mowat, GM of Canada’s Marketing Manager for Utilities. “We are excited to introduce a new Yukon with performance and features more typical of luxury SUV’s. With its all-new design, refined interior, improved content and segment-leading fuel economy, it’s a real value for consumers.”

The ‘07 Yukon builds further on its segment-leading fuel economy with the 4WD model achieving an estimated 15.4L/100km in the city and 10.4L/100km on the highway. At start of production a new Gen IV small-block Vortec 5.3L V-8 engine is standard and is rated at 320 horsepower and 340 lb.-ft. of torque. Additional fuel-saving technologies include Active Fuel Management™ cylinder deactivation technology, segment-leading aerodynamics and E85 FlexFuel capability on most models. A 4.8L V-8 engine, rated at 290 horsepower will become the standard engine of Yukon 2WD models later in the ‘07 model year.

The new Yukon incorporates features such as a new, fully boxed frame, coil-over-shock front suspension, and rack-and-pinion steering. Larger, four-wheel disc brakes and an all-new anti-lock brake system ensure braking performance at the top of the segment. Enhanced driving control and ride smoothness is offered with the available Autoride real-time damping system, which uses electronically controlled shock absorbers to make nearly instantaneous damping adjustments. The system “reads” the road and anticipates the best damping rates.

New optional features for 2007 include roof-mounted head curtain side air bags for all seating rows, a power liftgate, 20-inch wheels and tires, rearview camera system, heated windshield wiper fluid, as well as a new segment first power-release fold-and-tumble second row seat.

The 2007 Yukon line includes Yukon, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali. Pricing for the other Yukon models will be available later this year.

Headquartered in Oshawa Ontario, General Motors of Canada employs more than 20,000 people nationwide. GM of Canada manufactures a variety of vehicles, engines, transmissions and other components, and markets the full range of General Motors vehicles and related services through 765 dealerships and retailers across Canada. Vehicles sold through this network include Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Saturn, Hummer, Saab and Cadillac.

WOW - that's not just segment leading, its almost identical to Honda's midsize V6 powered Pilot. I'd call that segment busting!

The Pilot is 14.2L City and 9.9L Highway. Not quite, but for the power the Yukon has, and its size is amazing. The Pilot has 255hp, Yukon has 320hp. Sweeeeet.

I saw a couple Tahoes today at Courtesy Chev on the Queensway. Nice! Can't wait to see them on the road.

Not bad, just a couple grand more than a TrailBlazer, as it has always been. (I think :p)
