FYI - Assumptions and personal attacks are very ineffective debating practices. Why don't you instead respond to the facts? By the way, the current Explorer is not associated with rollovers.

I have yet to see anyone give a good reason for allowing these "lifted" trucks to be on the road. If someone wants an off road vehicle, fine, but they need to keep it off road.

I'll give you a reason...IT'S NOT AGAINST THE LAW TO LIFT YOUR TRUCK..if there is a law that states truck suspension can not be modified what so ever to give greater ground clearance, then we will start looking for a defense to give to you. However it seems that the issue of lifted trucks isnt as great as you make it out to be, otherwise there would be law prohibiting lifted trucks from being on public roads. I think you just dont like them, and thats totally fine, I wont get on your case about that..I hate people who sport Euro plates on the front of their cars and could pull out some bogus reasoning why I think that should be out lawed..I hate 4cyl with loud exhaust, I could give reasoning why that should be outlawed aswell. But the big picture here is that if we allow the government to outlaw one automotive modification, then the gates will flood and it will be a chain reaction of other modifications to be outlawed.

Answer this..

What scenario is more likely to result in a death?

A Lifted Ford F-250 rear ends a Chevy Malibu at 35mph...

or

A Chevy Malibu rear ends a Harley Davidson at 35mph...

Now I am going to go out on a limb here, but I think there are more motorcycles out on the road then there are lifted trucks, can you agree with that??

So by your way of thinking, if everything that can cause death should be banished from the road...wouldnt we all just be riding motorcycles?

I mean, I would rather get hit by a lifted truck while I drove my Mustang than get hit by an Aveo while driving my Harley..

Enough of this debate about lifted trucks already...

States have certain laws, and it is up to law enforcement to ENFORCE these laws!!!! That being said... my local police chief has a lifted F250!!!!

Great Points and Awesome Comparisons HoeyHimself...
IMO, You've just Won the debate my friend.

In this awesome free country of the USA, we all have a right to make the choices we want, until of course, it crosses the boundries of the law. With that said, there is NO law saying that an offroad truck is ONLY allowed to drive offroad.
Just becasue one person doesnt like what you do with your car or truck, does that make it law for everyone to follow? No.

By all means my friends, if you like lifted trucks, then lift them!!!
Lift them as high as the law will allow. If thats what you enjoy, then by all means...you have the right to enjoy it!

Now, this thread was not specifically designed in my mind to create debates...lets keep it clean guys and jus enjoy this amazing Black GMC truck!

I cant wait to get my 2500 HD GMC Diesel! I plan on doing the CST 9-11 with 37s and 20 inch chromeyys. I think that will look just right for a Black crew cab 4x4 HD Tubo diesel.

Heck yeah! I'd like to have that thing (4wd version) for a weekend and put it through hell and back in some East Texas mud and water. I just hope they made the 4wd better as I was not very pleased with the 800s 4wd capabilities. Having to be pulled out by a Ford is not fun.

In Florida the law is 27" for the bumper, the truck has no limit, now if your bumper sits above 27" and you hit and kill another driver you could be charged with manslaughter.

You were fine till that statement, IMHO drivers of lifted trucks do not drive like ricers, they have an understanding of their vehicles limitations and drive accordingly. I'm sure theres always an occasional red neck with an attitude, just like the car driver with an attitude.

Exactly. In my experience, most people driving lifted trucks actually have stayed farther away from people in front of them because of the known increase in stopping time. I have also never been cut off by a lifted truck. They always make sure they are a good distance ahead of me. Most of the accidents that I have almost been in (never been in one thank god) involved stupid drivers in normal cars with no modifications at all.

The GMC front looks like a Ford F-250 to much for me.

Someone at work just got an F250 powerstroke, MSRP was $46k he got $11k discount, thats crazy even tho its a powerstroke, makes me wonder how much more they'll discount these trucks later.

Last time I checked if you pay for the vehicle and your name is on the vehicle doesn't that mean it's yours to do what you want? Call me crazy, but that's what I always thought regardless of whether or not I like what that person does.

BTW, that truck looks unbelievable!! It's not overdone - very clean!! The new truck platform is awesome and it can only get better

This is not a "my rights" issues, as the rights of the driver of such a truck stop where the rights of the drivers of other vehicles on the same road begin.

Also, simple observation shows that an excessive percentage of drivers of such trucks do not drive properly - they tailgate, cut in and out, do not use turn signals, and so forth.
Well maybe it should be illegal for people to lower their vehicles then (seems to me like they're the people that drive wrecklessly more)! I'd love to see you prove those simple observations with real facts! You want to take semi's off the road too then? Maybe this thread has gotten a little out of control, but you picked the wrong place to post that comment

He cant prove anything because everything he says is coming from his opinion..hence the reason he hasnt appeared in this thread since we've called him out on it.

For instance, I don't get the point of lifting 1/2ton trucks. But that doesn't mean I am going to sit here and harsh on people for doing it.

I really cant wait to see some 2500 and 3500 Silverado/Sierras lifted up!
