Just my opinon, but why offer a base 2.4L engine? If its "professional grade" it needs to have a pair. But considering fuel economy standards, lets assume GM has to. Then tweek the existing engines for a few extra HP. Beef up the suspension for some increase in towing capacity. Maybe design in a different tailgate and some other usefull features. The third row of seating would have been a significant change (although maybe that would have been better in the Chevy, while the Terrain gets a more utilitarian rear storage area with some smart bins.

I think GMC can be a great brand for GM and continue to be a real money maker. I think GM deserves some serious credit here for making the Terrain so visually different from the Equinox. I just think GM needs to figure out if "professional grade" is really going to mean something because consumers don't really like things that aren't authentic.

As a side note, I also think all true "commercial vehicles" GM makes shoud be GMCs and not Chevrolets.

Agreed completely. I've always wanted to see GMC become more of a "utilitarian" brand over Chevy, more storage capacities, more tow/haul features, more seating, blah blah blah.

The Envoy XUV was a good example of this, but alas, it never caught on. Shame.

If this hand BMW, Honda, or Land Rover on it..the design would be considered trendy and the same plastic would be world class.

This coming from someone who drives a Rendezvous? Haha. Good 1 bud.

yes. That's a gorgeous shot! Most owners will see their vehicles in a real world state, not in a green screen room with blatantly fake lighting.

The truck has amazing presence in those shots. It's all about highlighting the product, not the process.

At the same time, the rear shot looks like a Buick Rendezvous to me!

Re: First Drive: 2010 GMC Terrain

I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in a $45,000 Equinox. I'm not sure every GMC needs Denali trim levels anymore than every Chevy needs an SS either. How 'bout making the wheels an option and the grill (that's not near as cool as it was five years ago) an accessory. That's just too much money for one of those.

Re: First Drive: 2010 GMC Terrain

I like the Nox better, but a butch looking SUV minus the mileage penalty has a certain appeal.
If that floats your boat this is really the only one.

Paint The Terrain black & raise the license plate a smidge and it looks like a long lost cousin. At least more similar than it does to the Equinox (which is a good thing!) Again, I'm talking about if you look at the rear only, not the side shot.

Then again, people say I either look exactly like my brother OR exactly like my sister, but never both so it's all personal perspective I guess.

I really don't like it when you put square wheel-wells on a truck. It just doesn't look good.

I thought the back end looked like a new-generation Rendevous too. Maybe it was supposed to be at some point, until they gave it to GMC. Who knows?!

From all the pictures out there it almost seems that the Equinox and Terrain don't have gauges that are backlit during the day (like LEDs) without the headlights on, just simple white-on-black ones. It's a little surprising in light of the Epsilon, Lambdas, etc.

I'd say it's probably cheaper to just switch out the faceplates since they have different gauge font, but the Malibu/Aura have LED gauges with different fonts/color, as well as the Lambda line. And I think the gauges themselves on the Terrain (and likely the Equinox as well) are backlit in white with the exterior lights on, with surrounding displays being the theme color (red for Terrain, etc).
