Re: Chevrolet Tahoe arrives in Japan
when i was stationed in Misawa Japan, i saw fullsize chevy trucks, surburbans, and astros, on the regular. there was also a little cute japanese chic who regularly drove a black mid 90s K5 (fullsize) blazer. thats not including the 2 STS's and numerous old Fleetwoods and impalas. i'd say i say saw one of these vehicles at least once a day. as for astros or caprice wagons, maybe 2-3 times a day.
so i'm sure the Tahoe will do pretty decent. especially considering that in Japan having one is more akin to owning a rare expensive Grey market sports car than just a everyday appliance. |

Re: Chevrolet Tahoe arrives in Japan
I was in Tokyo a few months ago and was shocked by the number of Hummers I saw. Almost as many as in the US on a given day.

Re: Chevrolet Tahoe arrives in Japan
Considering a Tahoe Hybrid gets better city mpg than a 4 cylinder Camry sedan, maybe there is a market for this type of vehicle in Japan. The interior space and towing capacity must have some applications in Japan. I am sure the U.S. Embassy and other U.S. Federal agencies with offices in Japan probably buy several of them.

Re: Chevrolet Tahoe arrives in Japan!!!
they will but it is a super-status symbol for Arnie wannabees (well that is the H2). Major profitable though. Can't sell many since you can't really drive it on some Japanese roads... on their autobahns it is no problem but it takes both sides of the small streets in the cities.

Re: Chevrolet Tahoe arrives in Japan!!!
I agree, the tundra interior, especially the dash is a dizzying array of plastics that look thrown together, just because they had the stuff in the warehouse! the exterior looks like a hot air balloon version of an SUV. The same goes for their bloated pickup!

Re: Chevrolet Tahoe arrives in Japan
Or they could try to sell small and mid-size cars there.

Re: Chevrolet Tahoe arrives in Japan
The Tahoe will sell to well-heeled buyers with a lot of money and a big parking spot. (You can't buy a car in Japan unless you can prove you have somewhere to put it)

Re: Chevrolet Tahoe arrives in Japan
US automakers cannot legally sell dull and boring vehicles.
"Dull" and "Boring" are registered trademarks of the Toyota Corporation. Mind you, that strategy DOES seem to work for them.
