Once GM gets that 6-speed into the Silverado/Sierra.. there will be nothing nobody can say about the trucks! The Tundra will have nothing that can top the Silverado/Sierra.. maybe match, but not top!

Re: Autoblog - Consumer Reports rates half-ton pickups, raises eyebrows!

I wonder if Consumer Reports actually used these trucks like real people would use it. Like farmers, construction, and other jobs like that expect from their truck. Or did they just drive it and see which one accelerated the best?

I am suprised that CR didn't try and flip the Chevy so they could really enhance thier credibility.

Nice to see CR still ranks all vehicles too new to rate for reliablity with the exeption of Toyota's and Honda's. I guess camshafts are designed to be replaced at every other oil change.

wait...how can the Tundra get a recommended rating based on past experience even though they already had engine failures in the 5.7s? that's TOTAL LIES.

Re: Autoblog - Consumer Reports rates half-ton pickups, raises eyebrows!

They pretty much optioned the vehicles in the test in a way where the Toyota Tundra would come out on top.

I dont mind it if the Tundra gets rated better then Silverado however when they bring a 5.7L 4.30 rear geared 6 speed Tundra and compare it to the 5.3L 4 speed 3.73 rear geared Silverado and declare the Tundra better you have to raise some questions. Esp. when there is a no cost optional 4.10 rear gears and a bigger engine option......

And how can you not rate a pick-up truck taking towing into consideration.............. isnt that one of the reasons to buy a pick-up truck. So basicly from the perspective that CR rated this test is from a buyer who wants a truck to look cool but doesnt plan on doing any towing what so ever in it?

If thats the case then why not get the base engines in all of these pick-up trucks? they get better fuel economy anyways.

With that said not having a 6 speed atleast optional in the Silverado does hurt it.

Wink Re: Autoblog - Consumer Reports rates half-ton pickups, raises eyebrows!

Here's an example from my own personal experience that illustrates how stupid CR is.

I sold appliances at The Home Depot up until a week ago when I started my teaching job. About 2 months ago I was in the midst of a sale on a Maytag Epic frontload washer and dryer combo. Some dickhead customer butts in and says, "You don't want to buy the Epic. It's a piece of ****."

A little perturbed at his intrusion I stopped my transaction and asked him why and what machine he recommends. He says, "CR rates the Epic VERY poorly. They recommend the Kenmore and Whirlpool frontloaders."

"Interesting," I said, "that you say the Maytag is a piece of garbage and the Whirlpool and Kenmore rate very well when they come off the same assembly line in Germany."

He didn't believe me, so I showed him the tag that read,
"Maytag
Trademark - Whirlpool Corporation, Benton Harbor, Michigan."

He shut his frigging face. Idiot. CR is stupid. They don't even know that the Maytag/Whirlpool/Kenmore-based machines are the same yet they are soooo biased against Maytag they rated it poorly based on the brand.

As far as CR is concerned they can kiss my ass.

I wonder how CR will cover up the camshaft failures in the Tundra. Let me guess, the failures are nothing more than an anomaly.

there needs to be more use on the 6.0 in the 1500's only $1000 more. I have observed better economy too.

Hehe. Not much they could say. I sold over $260,000 in appliances in 5 months. I averaged 15-20k a week in sales. Since I quit they haven't sold 10 grand. LOL. They shoulda given me the increase I wanted. Ah well, screw 'em.

Aren't you used to the unfair comparisons, yet? I thought everyone drank MotorTrend's Kool-Aid.
