All-New Arabian GMC Terrain!

I can't believe I am the first to post it, so please do merge/delete if I am not - I can't search for it as the search engine is on strike...

Kuwaiti premiere for the all-new GMC Terrain

GMC has issued the following press release:

GMC’s mantra of “Professional Grade” takes on a whole new meaning with the arrival of GMC’s first Compact SUV, the stylish Terrain...

...which basically means "honey, we've rebadged the Antara". In a surprise move, GM might have just previewed the Torrent replacement (given the Acadia/Outlook relationship, this might be likely), or just given a foretaste of a small, unibody GMC shared with OTHER division than Chevrolet.

It is also an interesting example of the GMC brand gaining some currency outside North America!

Re: All-new GMC Terrain!

EMBARRASSING on GM's part, it looks like a Vue with 'insert grille here' and different wheels...and they said the Roger Smith era is over? LMAO ummmm hope so, doubt it. I can't tell if the side vent running near the front door is there or not, but if the US gets VUE and Terrain and those headlights stay as they are in this pic, its a blatant rebadge which GM should be embarrassed to have.

At least Outlook and Acadia have a different front clip if not same rear end (to 99% of people minus GMI enthusiasts) I guess that was too much work on theta b/c it won't generate lambda profits...sigh.

Good god, does it really frickin' matter if it's a clone of an NA vehicle if it's in Kuwait?

If its sold in the USA, you bet your ass!

If its ONLY sold in non-USA areas, its fine (obviously, I'm not that shortsighted, geez. I have heard of Vectra/Aura, or Sky/GT in US/Europe but then again you don't see an Aura/Sky replica sheetmetal product ALSO in the US now do you? Nope. Solstice different from Sky sheetmetal wise and Aura different from G6/Malibu)

CobaltSScrazy

PS: maybe you didn't know, but Pontiac Torrent is supposed to die and BE REPLACED WITH THE GMC TERRAIN, which is this vehicle with insert badge here Vue design/styling, which like I said, is embarrassing. It does matter b/c its a clone of a US vehicle sold in the USA.

Can we wait until we actually see what is introduced here before we start with the pissy comments? So far, it's in Kuwait.

I'm sure its a fine vehicle, just a rebadge that frustrates me. Based on GM's track record, I highly doubt any substantial sheetmetal or front/rear clip changes will be made, but I guess we can wait till it debuts at NAIAS or where-ever and looks like a VUE. I don't mind waiting, lol.

One question though: why make it look 'exactly' like an Antara/Vue for Kuwait and then change it's design for the US market? Why not just use the changed US market styled Terrain overseas...oh wait, thats because that won't happen. Unfortunately I am 98.7% sure I'm right and sadly that is the problem, I'd love to eat my words for lunch but I highly doubt it.

CobaltSScrazy

Maybe I missed something in GM's track record where they sold a product overseas and changed it substantially for a product that is already sold in the US market under another brand??? Please inform me because all I see are rebadging of vehicles worldwide whether it be GTO/VZ, Astra/Astra, Aura/Vectra, Sky/GT/Daewoo, Vue/Antara/TERRAIN!, and now G8/VE...

Or maybe they were just trying to sell a Theta in the middle east and GMC seemed like a brand that would sell beside chevy better than opel or saturn.....

Unless NSAP, Duspinnist or someone else has heard of this changing and I just didn't know about it?

Exactly read the article.

No where does it say the GMC terrain in Kuwait will be brought to the US. They may replace the torrent with a vehicle called the terrain but theres no reason to assume it will be the same in different countries. It's not uncommon for product lineups for a brand to vary from country to country. Seems more like you are just jumping to conclusions without any solid basis.

I did.

No where does it NOT say it won't be. Based on GM's past, it probably will be. I think GM's past efforts over the past 7 years warrant TONS of Solid basis, (as evidenced by stated vehicles in above posts)this selective memory some people have is beyond my comprehension.

Like I said above, show me ONE ****just*O*N*E*** example of a GM vehicle sold abroad within the past 3 years that was brought to the USA and sold under the same brand and same name of model/product that did have extensive sheetmetal changes to the US version...with GM.because I must have missed that happening. GTO=nope. G8=nope. Opel to Saturn conversion=Aura/vectra nope. Sky/GT nope. Antara=Vue 08 nope.

I forsee a GMC Terrain being a Saturn Vue with 'insert grill here' and different wheels. GM has done nothing to demonstrate otherwise.

Re: All-new GMC Terrain!

No where has anyone said that this vehicle will be brought to the us. Last Time I checked the terrain is supposed to goto gmc around 2011 probably on the next platform. Until you site some sources saying GMC is getting the terrain in the next year or two I won't jump to conclusion and assume it will be another rebadge.

Re: All-new GMC Terrain!

Just irritated by GM thats all. I think they're going to rebadge again, and I don't like it. People don't agree, and I'm just spirited and passionate about the issue. I love cars, what can I say? lol Its one of my great interests and distractions, hehe.
