When Big Enough Isn't MotorTrend

There's no lack of options in the Chevrolet/GMC full-size SUV lineup these days. From the everything-plus-one Suburban/Yukon XL to the slightly more manageable Tahoe/Yukon to the minivan-but-not Traverse/Acadia, whatever your specific crossover/SUV niche, Chevrolet and GMC make a vehicle for it. With six options for a seven- to nine-seat vehicle with optional all-wheel drive that can tow your toys, there's bound to be one that fits your wants and needs. To determine which, read on.
IMHO the Yukon/Yukon XL looks much better than the Tahoe/Suburban, but that's not to say that the Tahoe/Suburban is ugly. It's just a testament to how good the Yukon looks this generation.
I saw several Yukon Denalis over the weekend out in the Texas hill country. They look nice out and about. I stopped by my GMC dealership two weeks ago for my first oil change and took a look of what they had on the lots. For the most part I like the Yukon, but I'm not too fond of the crease in the hood above the lights. It's too deep in my opinion. Otherwise, they're gorgeous. The dealership was giving test rides and selling them left and right. They said they were selling them as fast as they could get them in.
I've seen two Yukon's, one SLE and the other SLT, and one LTZ Tahoe. They all look much better than in pictures, and I was surprised by the Tahoe's front end, I was prepared not to like it, but it actually looked handsome. I think all will be hit's. Can't wait to see an Escalade!
The dealers around me haven't sold their first one yet. They've had an LTZ Tahoe and Suburban and an SLE Yukon and SLT XL for nearly 3 weeks now. They got them very early compared to some dealers, but they haven't sold yet.
I can't believe they are selling like they are at these ridiculous high prices. Oh well, so much for sending a message to GM that their prices are nuts.
Have you looked at the competition's prices? GM at least gives a decent package.. where the competition very often makes you buy ala carte. (I'm looking at you BMW)
I love the looks of the Yukon XL and Suburban but am amazed at how many I see in the States considering the price. I see more in a day of New England driving than I see in a year here in southern Quebec.
I've seen the new Hoes/Burbs up close and in person and the headlights still ruin it for me. If those were fixed, it'd make a tough choice between the two, but Denali wins for me any day now.
Yup diesel is the only thing missing. Well that and the 8sp.
Btw I really think people are missing the point with the pricing complaints. At two of the divisions there is still the much cheaper, but same sized Lambdas for families or individuals to purchase if the k2s are too expensive for them. With these vehicles you are getting much more capabilities in towing, power and newer materials. It is a shame that that huge point goes unnoticed. GM now, unlike when the GMTs, launched have an alternative? The K2s must be properly placed in order to cut down on that overlap with the Lambdas.
If only the Denali had the proportions cut similar to an Acadia it would of looked better on the nose to me rite now it's just too big and squarish on the nose
