I currently have an 07 Sierra and my lease is almost over. I don't need another truck and am looking at getting back into an SUV after leasing a Ford F150 and then my Sierra, following years of driving Jeep SUVs.

I wasn't even considering another GM product, but the Chev Equinox appealed to me the first time I saw a photo of it. I could not, however, get over its 'soft' look - way too feminine for me. Then I came across the Terrain. Yes, it has a unique look and I have some niggles about the back not 'matching' the front in terms of the bold design but overall I think it's a great choice over the other vehicles I was considering, like the Escape and Santa Fe. In fact, the only thing that I really don't like is that the muffler hangs down under the back end and detracts from the look of the rear end.

Seeing it up close and driving one sealed the deal for me and I ordered a carbon black metallic SLT-2 V6 AWD around the first of September. I like that it might not be as popular as the Equinox and hopefully won't become as common on the roads as the Escape.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
Congrats...post pictures when you get it!

Can do.

The dealer I ordered it from told me that we can expect it by the end of October, however I've been reading that they can't assemble these vehicles fast enough and are looking at new ways to try and meet the demand. That's pretty ominous in that they might be backlogged with orders.

I've never factory-ordered a vehicle before. Will I be notified of the date I should expect delivery, before it shows up at the dealership? I guess that's a question for the dealer.

Welcome to GMI!

I attended a journalist chat with the Manager of GMC/Buick yesterday. She stated that they will be adding a third shift in the first part of next month to the CAMI plant to meet Terrain/Equinox demand. If demand continues to be high (or increases), they will look at adding a secondary plant somewhere else in North America.

Generally the dealership just calls when your car comes in.

Thanks!

I never would have figured I would buy a GMC (after years of leasing, buying is quite a commitment) as most of GM's other SUVs don't appeal to me. I would never have considered a Torrent/Equinox and the larger platform (Acadia, Enclave) is too much vehicle for my needs, so the new Equinox/Terrain will fit me perfectly.

And the only foreign vehicle I would have considered would have been the Santa Fe as I am impressed by their quality and style. You would never, ever see me owning a Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Subaru, etc. - not in a million years.

And as a bonus, the Equinox and Terrain are assembled essentially right down the road from me, so it feels great to support not only the North American economy but also the 'local' economy.

Re: 2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!

I have to admit, i love it, although i think the squared wheel arches should have been on the chevy, as the silverado has really squared off side profiling, the siearra and acadia have more sorter rounded wheel arch profiles which would have helped group the terrain as similarily styled to its gmc sibblings.I just bought an 08 Pontiac G6 last aug, so its a few years away yet until i can trade, but the terrain it #1 on my list .I work at a port in Eastern Canada i have seen and driven both the gmc and chevy.I prefer the GMC,i wish the brown was just a bit darker.Hmm,might have to take a test drive next time i take the car in for oil service.

Re: 2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!

We just got in and promptly sold a Mocha SLT Terrain to a good customer of mine. He has bought 3 Rainers from us, but he couldnt ever get his wife out of Toyota's. He secretly came up here a few times looking for a Terrain and today when we got this in he brought her up here and they bought it on the spot! She loved it and man was it a looker. So she is at least in a GM now and out of a Sienna, hopefully she enjoys it.

BTW, that is the third one we have sold in a week, and we have only gotten 4 in. The last one we have came in yesterday and already has a few prospects.....
