2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!
2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!
Is GM finally taking good photography of their vehicles? www.gminsidenews.com September 15, 2009 Today the press, bloggers and other industry-related folks were invited to the ride and drive event of the 2010 GMC Terrain. This was what GM calls a "launch event." As I posted yesterday, Terrains are already on dealership lots, but now next month's magazines are going to have reviews of the new ute after driving them today. GMI, naturally, was not invited to this event. However that does not mean our readers will be entirely left out.

If the GMC badge was centered on the second bar of the grille, it would look so much better.

Have to admit the Terrain is growing on me a little.
I have to see one in person though, you never get a good feel until you see it live. |

Re: 2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!
the interior is nice, but something is very wrong with the exterior. I comment them for trying to differentiate it from the Equinox...but I think it came out wrong. The wheel wells are a bit to square and/or large for the wheels, and the fact that the side of the vehicle is so smoother, the way the wheel wells stick out they almost look like they are aftermarket tack-ons, and the grill is a bit too big.
Once again, I'm all for the effort...but in my opinion, the Aztec had better 'potential' for good looks than this does (at least the Aztec looked decent in some show mock-ups with larger wheels and ground effects...while I don't think there is anything that can make the exterior of the Terrain look good to me.) |

I'm sorry but that is one hideously ugly truck. Makes an Aztek look like work of art.

I own an Acadia, and love the styling. Something went wrong here in the exterior downsizing process. However, I love the look of the Equinox, so the GM brand strategy works for me here. Thank you for posting the photographs! |

Re: 2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!
I have to admit, these photos are making the Terrain grow on me. It's different looking and that is a good thing. I'm going to have to write an editorial about this....I think there is more to the design than what has been mentioned.

Re: 2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!
What an eyesore. It's all in the wheel arches. The round wheels and tires actually look out of place within the rectangular boxes around them. I think the bold front end and distinctive rear and greenhouse would be great if they didn't have to compete with the oversized and overstyled arches. GM did go to great lengths to differentiate the exterior from the Equinox but the interior is not different enough for most to ever notice. They have the same seats (right down to the stitch patterns/colors and fabrics/leathers) and the same color schemes, same trim materials and basically, the same look. It comes off as more typical GM badge engineering. I can't imagine anyone choosing this over the Equinox. Well, anyone sober anyway

Re: 2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!
Everything was going OK until I got to the red one. Not because of the color, but because there was too much brightness on the grille which wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for too much chrome with the wheels.
I would prefer a more Envoy/Acadia-like grille, or at least a more prominent front bumper (imagine the IIHS bumper repair costs! ).

Re: 2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!
I really want to like this. I am looking for this type of vehicle in 2 Years time, just enough to get the kinks worked out. I like the Equinox, but would prefer something a bit more upscale looking. This is still too bizarre for me. The wheel arches, the boring rear end, it's just so strange.

Re: 2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!
GM is going to sell the crap out of the Equinox/Terrain twins. I personally don't like the Equinox, but I do like how futuristic the styling of the Terrain looks. If GMC made this bigger and with a V8 to replace the Yukon, I would be all over it!
I just hope GM doesn't get rid of the GMT-900 SUVs. Those are my favorite and we love our 09 Escalade! I see the Terrain still has the GM badges on the side. I am sure those will be gone soon!

Re: 2010 Terrain Launch: Tons of Photos!
I mostly like the look of the terrain. I just think they should have calmed down on the wheel wells. They stick out so much and just really don't fit well with the rest of the body. Maybe bigger, wider aftermarket rims would make it look more proportional. Like others have said, I do appreciate how much different this looks from the Traverse.
