Re: 2007 Equinox Changes

DIC in the Equinox is a plus. 3.7 won't fit, the Equinox is FWD with a transverse engine, 3.7 made for longitudinal and too long for a transverse mount in this. The HF 3.6 should fit nicely though.

And now for the million dollar question:
HAVE YOU TAKEN ONE FOR A DRIVE??

The 3.4L and 5-speed provide plenty of oomph. Stab the accelerator and you get planted to your seat.

Re: 2007 Equinox Changes

I agree with Steve, GM has way too many pathetic trannies and engines. The 200hp pushrods are fine for a malibu or G6 that is a lower priced car, and weighs 3500 pounds. But in SUVs that weigh 4000+ pounds and can be more expensive, a 190 hp and 4 speed auto doesn't cut it. They should at least use the 3900 V6 with the displacement on demand, then it would have enough power to compete in the class and could get decent mileage. Needs a new Tranny too. Note the Rav4 and Xterra both have over 260 hp. The Nox has what, 185?

Re: 2007 Equinox Changes

GM Please tell me the 3.4 liter 185 hp engine is not going to be in the Equinox next year. I was planning on buying one with the 3.9 or 3.6 liter at 240 +hp. I am so sick of the constant cost cutting and you are still doing it to us. I really thought you learned your lesson with the threat of bankruptcy. If you don't put in the 3.5 liter as the base with the 3.6 or 3.9 as the upgraded engine, then you don't care about your company, period !!!!!

It's about time they got 4-wheel anti-lock brakes.

agreed, and it needs a six-speed transmission! I've gone through all these change threads, and i was expecting 6 speeds, I THOUGHT THEY WERE RAMPING UP PRODUCTION, oh...wait....GM "hierarchy" rules again. Instead of being like toyota and making the best technology standard in the base cars (and lexus' ultra-lux) we make caddies "lux" and dumb down the rest .

Re: 2007 Equinox Changes

Whoo! A new front/rear design. Also the good radio, not that crap one in the Malibu. Remote start is great, and many of these cars are getting stabilitrak.

Re: 2007 Equinox Changes

Needs an engine change, but that's about all. GM made some very good changes here, let's applaud them for that for gosh sakes! This is what we needed from GM, changing existing models constantly to make them more competitive. I think we will see the new 3.6L soon in it.
