don't know if they're real

- Edit by Rex
They must have been real.
GM asked us to remove them this morning.

i think those were posted here before, or at least one of them.

what is the point of the flying buttreesses? are they structural? part of the midgate? they look okay on the current one, but those new pics (if that really is the '06) make the truck look very classy, and i don't know if they need those extra triangles hanging off the back. then again, perhaps they're there to add a little visual flair... which they do!

I think those are pictures of the Honda SUT.But if they are Chevy. F150, Tundra, Titan, are all dead. I am assuming the Truck will have an updated interior in line with new GM thinking. I also know they were starting with Tahoe and then Moving to Escalade, Yukon, and then to the pick em'up trucks. I thought the Pick ups would take on Canyon Styling cues.

This seems luke a very clean panel design. Its not very Chevy like

No way thats the new Honda SUT. If you compare those pictures to the spy shots of the SUT in another forum they dont look alike at all.

Yuck, GM really is messing the Avalanche up if they completely delete the cladding. It didn't look good on the Pontiacs, but the Avalanche looks FAR MEANER with it on.

poor GM. they should give up now! for everyone who likes the cladding there's someone who hates it. not saying your opinion is wrong... it's YOUR opinion, so it can't be 'wrong'... but there's just no way everyone can be happy. hopefully more people like it without cladding than with it (assuming this is even an accurate pic of the next avalanche).

i'm gonna guess that avalanche buyers are a less butch breed than GM pickup buyers... they're probably more into slick looking SUV's than rugged trucks. so i'd guess that this sleeker look would attract more of the same avalanche buyers. real truck people buy real trucks. the avalanche is there for the guy who wants to pretend, or wants it for weekend excursions to home depot. i like it, but it's not aimed at the same market as the silverado and sierra.

After looking at the Honda SUT closely, It does not look like this spy shot. But, I still do not think this is it. It’s too plain, I wonder if GM is going after Toyota’s understated mainstream designs for its bread butter products. Cobalt is surprisingly Japanese, Aveo is European, G6 is more like a Japanese product, GTO is Catera, it seems GM is trying to take its products to international design standards, moving them away slowly from American design, Cadillac/ Buicks might be the onlys one to retain Distinctive styling.

This is a good thing, because in that market you need to be noticed

Looks like a Trailblazer to me.
If Envoy can have the open back end/sliding roof thing, then maybe this would be a smaller version of the Avalance (maybe call it a Mudslide).

These pictures have been circulating for a while. I question if they are real or not. We all know that GM is working on their 2006/2007 truck/SUV redesign, but has anyone noticed that no-one has seen any test vehicles driving around. This picture could very well be real or a photo chop. Who knows.

All I know is that Chevy had better get it right, or Ford, Dodge, Nissan and Toyota will continue to take their marketshare... Please give us a nice interior.

I for one like the idea of making the cladding optional on the Avalanche. Some people like it, others don't.

My current ride - 2004 Mazda6s - V6 with a five speed manual. GM forced me to the competition because they didn't offer a midsize sedan with a V6 and manual transmission.

if i remember correctly, the butresses are there to smooth airflow over the side of the vehicle. without them, there would be much more buffeting and noise when either the midgate or just the window are removed than there is with them there.

After looking closely at the Honda SUT, it seems they took Avalanche Design and tried to ‘improve on it’ albeit unsuccessfully. The basic problem that Asian Manufacturers suffer is lack of originality in design. Now that GM/Ford have decided to take interiors seriously and quality seriously. I think Toyota, Honda days are numbered. They will not be so high flying for long.

Right. And I also remember hearing that it directed airflow so that exhaust fumes didn't get sucked into the cabin with the midgate open.

I never really got the point of the Avalanche. It's "revolutionary" ability to convert from a truck into an SUV and vice versa should've been nothing more than an extra cost option for, or a special model of, the Silverado/Sierra, not cause to make a whole new vehicle.

Yet another car GM fans dislike? I really love it it's a beautiful design for a truck and I hope they are real.
