Weekend Ahead NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series - Paramount Health Insurance 200, June 18
FOR RELEASE: 2005-06-14 Weekend Ahead
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series - Paramount Health Insurance 200, June 18 Chevrolet Team Silverado drivers will seek some advance race inspiration from the people who build the production trucks on the assembly line. Dennis Setzer, Jack Sprague, David Starr and Ron Hornaday will kick off the upcoming Michigan International Speedway (MIS) race weekend with a visit to the Ft. Wayne (Indiana) GM Silverado Assembly Plant. “I am excited about visiting the Silverado assembly plant,” Sprague said. “It is always great to have the opportunity to meet GM assembly plant employees but this will be awesome to meet the people who build the Silverado trucks and really support our efforts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.” NASCAR Nextel Cup Series - Batman Begins 400, June 19 Every race is important on the NASCAR calendar. Yet with Michigan International Speedway in Detroit's backyard, this weekend will be another "must win" for every manufacturer on the grid. "This is a very important race for us," said Alba Colon, GM Racing program manager for NASCAR Nextel Cup racing. "Every race is important. But you really want to win this one, especially because it is our home track and everybody comes to see how the Chevrolet teams are doing. Also, this is the backyard for the Big 3 and you want to go back to the office on Monday having the bragging rights." NHRA POWERade Series - K&N Filters SuperNationals, June 19 After a strong performance this past weekend in Joliet, Ill. by Chevrolet’s Dave Connolly and Pontiac's Jason Line, there will be very little time for these young Pro Stock gunslingers to sit back and relish in their accomplishments. The 22-year-old Connolly, who is coming off a $50,000 payday in the King Demon Crown invitational meet, and the 35-year-old Line, who won Sunday's Pro Stock eliminator final round by just .0015 (that's ten thousandths!) of a second, will join the rest of the GM Racing contingent this week at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park for the 36th annual K & N Filters Super Nationals. "There are a lot of teams stepping up," said Connolly. "Both Greg (Anderson) and Jason (Line) are back in the championship chase, Warren (Johnson) is running strong and now Kurt's (Johnson) starting to run fast again. You know that when the breaks start going Kurt's way he's going to win a few races. You have the Schumacher team turning their program around. When you consider that we're just halfway through the season, there are five cars that have opened up a pretty good lead, but the rest of the field has plenty of time and could just as easily close that gap in the second half. It's not going to be a blow-off season like it was last year. It's good for the class and it's good for the sport." Source |
