Robby Gordon in Hummer Claims Eighth Overall in Dakar Rally
Robby Gordon Claims Eighth Overall in Dakar Rally
For sixteen days, from Lisbon to Dakar, Team Dakar USA embarked on the toughest race known to man and machine. By the end they accomplished what no other American team had ever done in the previous 28 editions of the Dakar Rally. Robby Gordon Motorsports and General Motors with its Hummer brand respectively became the first American team and manufacture to win a stage in the Dakar Rally. While Robby Gordon claimed his third stage win in his third Dakar attempt – the Monster Hummer also captured the Open Category honors with its eighth place finish overall.http://www.robbygordon.com/cms/publi...icle_837.shtml

It ,along with pretty much every vehicle in the rally,in no way resembles a vehicle you can purchase. Many of you,I'm sure, can remember the days when a car rally actually used vehicles that were slightly modified from production ones.

Forgot to post it. Thanks for posting though. I watched the whole rally and it was amazing.

Re: Robby Gordon in Hummer Claims Eighth Overall in Dakar Rally
There are some vehicles that are quite close to stock, aside from the obvious modifications that a 5000+ miles race through the desert requires. There was a guy fairly high in the standings driving a Silverado, and there were others with Toyota Land Cruisers and Nissans. Robby Gordon's Hummer is just a tube frame mid-engine buggy with a H3 fiberglass body, though.
